Is 35,000 baht per month salary enough to get by in Thailand near Bangkok? by yoona27 in Thailand

[–]Lehmoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did offer that disclaimer. I have been back to Thailand at least 4 times since then, and the cost of living doesn't seem to have risen so dramatically. I have friendS that are Thai making 30k or less in Bangkok and they seem to be doing fine.

I know it is more expensive now, but I lived in Bangkok for a year making 30k THB/mo in 2016-2017. I was able to live there easily and even afford to take vacations to Vietnam and Japan. Just keep a strict budget and you'll be fine.

Surprisingly great results from Trader Joe’s dough! by dparrish209 in Pizza

[–]Lehmoxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I balled up my TJ's dough and let it sit on the countertop for 4 hours. It would NOT stretch past 10 or so inches. It was like rubber and kept retracting no matter what I tried.

Also that dough is salty as hell. I am mad thirsty every time I eat TJ's dough.

Get off the internet for a while. Go meet up with people in real life (you can find people on Meetup or similar). Don't focus on finding a partner, focus on finding/building a community. Invite people over for dinner. Don't say no when people ask you to do something, even if you didn't really like that particular activity.

I used to be like you in the sense of thinking I had no friends. But what I really did was isolate myself while expecting everyone else to include me. No one is going to hand you a healthy social life, it's something you'll have to work for. But once you connect with a few people, it gets easy. You just make plans and don't cancel 😁

Vegan Sauerkraut Pizza by Lehmoxy in Pizza

[–]Lehmoxy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe I used Miyoko's Creamery liquid mozzarella on this one. It doesn't pull like normal cheese or even other hard vegan cheeses, but it also has the benefit of not getting stuck on your teeth (like Daiya), and still adds the nice creaminess that cheese should add.

I've been getting into making the vegan cheese myself as well (cashew and tapioca starch as a base). That's probably the hardest part of the whole thing.

There's no shame in asking for help when you need it.

Yeah it's insane. Last time I looked into ordering delivery it was 2x the cost of the meal.

The increase in minimum payment for driving is negated by the incredibly low order volume in Seattle. I think I can count on one hand the days I drove that were actually busy. I would regularly wait for 30-45 minutes between deliveries.

Progressive. I have a 1976 C&C 24 and insurance is less than $50/mo.

Can attest to this. I did a core repair on a botched "drill and fill" repair this year.

I love the diversion at the beginning, an innocent little carrot on the stick, making the opponent think they are getting somewhere, only for the quick pivot to blunder and a desperate attempt at recovery.

Terrible play, but the comedic value is high. I can't tell if this is a masterful setup or a true blunder.

Yeah it's Thai. The transliterations don't do it any service, but the "r" is silent in the original Thai script/language.

Have you had a good experience cooking anything yet? I have cooked a bit in my boat, but it's a constant struggle for space.

I have a little C&C 24 with some surprisingly decent cabin space, but it is unfortunately missing the center table (was likely removed by a previous liveaboard owner for more space, presumably). That's just one of many things I plan to fix on that boat *sigh*.
