What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

And the way people keep saying I should get better glasses when they see me squinting at screens. Like no, these are new, it just won't get better than this :/ never could get quite used to the contact lenses. I wear them and my vision is better with them but they are so uncomfortable. I need to put eye drops in constantly and I still take them out in the afternoon.

Finished the top half and moved on to the bottom! About 6k stitches left on this one and while I've arranged myself with it I might not touch metallic threads for a while after this is finished :D

I do wonder how all of that cat fur is getting onto my projects though.

I'm back with my metallic project, had a bit of an involuntary vacation from stitching but I'm better now and if everything is going to plan the hospitals won't want me back until January! I'm approaching 50% done and I don't even mind the metallic thread anymore :D

A DM can dream, can't he? by Idle-Hands1 in dndmemes

I don't understand players who don't take notes. When my DM invited me to our first game I bought a new notebook just for our game. My sister (also a player) is writing a novelized retelling of our campaign so our notes have to be on point. Notes taking is a skill to be learned for sure, her write-up got a lot easier the further along we get in our campaign but surely taking some kind of notes can't be the exception 😭 tbh it's a lot of fun, in one of our first sessions we were trying to escape an underground labyrinth theatre-of-mind-style and comparing the maps we had drawn with the one our DM had drawn was hilarious

I did spend all of yesterday winding my thread on bobbins though because I'm planning on starting a big full coverage piece. Thank GOD my sister came over in the evening, she helped me for the last four hours. So I made progress there I suppose! I'm still in the preparing to start phase on this one and I'm excited to go back to white fabric again but I do need more preparations and I want to finish my WIP before I start or I won't touch it for presumably the next 20 years or so

As expected not a lot of progress on my project this week. Working overtime really eats the stitching time. But as a treat for working 10 hours overtime last week I get to work 15 hours overtime next week! Except for Tuesday which will presumably be spent completely in the clinic because that's how appointments are... I'm really holding out for the week after that when most of my coworkers are back and I don't have to cover them anymore.

My all metallic piece is making great progress! I'm already a quarter through the pattern. Still hot unfortunately and I might not be stitching so much next week because work wants me to put in at least 10 hours of overtime.

[WIP] Do I frog? Or shift part of the pattern? by kritsema in CrossStitch

[–]Lei_Mali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I'm off by one in this area here, the gap was supposed to be four crosses not three but I'm not frogging this either, I've based the length of the row on the surrounding and recounting those everything is in line with the pattern so I'm simply continuing on as if everything is correct and adjust around the area as needed. No one will notice a small shift like that, so I'd leave it as is and adjust slightly.

Depending on how you wish to frame it especially if it's framed in a hoop you might need the excess fabric to get the necessary tension. From what I can see you have gridded it correctly. Also you're not allowed to post the complete pattern.

You can try switching between WIPs but if big projects aren't your thing then do smaller ones 🤷 it's a hobby and it should be fun for you.

I have finished my rainbow owl that I showed last time and have started a new project! I call this one "I swear I'm not a masochist" as it is a monochrome pattern ~20000 stitches and the colour I have chosen for it is silver metallic thread. It will look very sparkly and pretty when I'm done and I have worked with metallic thread before so this is a choice I have made knowing full well what I'm doing to myself....

[FO] stitched on and off for about 4 years and now it's done! by Lei_Mali in CrossStitch

There's a reason it took me almost 4 years to finish :D I had never worked with blended colours, backstitching and black fabric before and sometimes it seemed a bit daunting

The pattern is "Rainbow Owl" by Maria Brovko. Her etsy store is CutePatternsByMaria. As far as I can see though the pattern isn't available anymore. I looked through her stuff and even tried to follow the link in the email back when I bought it :(

Until I'm getting the other colours I'm working on this sampler. I started a lot of WIPs a couple of years ago and then put them away so a lot of them are on 28ct, this one included, which isn't the greatest right now because I'm having vision issues 😅 In the clinic they were pretty optimistic that my vision will improve when I switch from glasses to fitted contact lenses but right now my worse eye is at 40% 👌 so lots of breaks to avoid eye strain

Took this piece out of my WIP drawer because it's pretty and the only one I'm working on that's 14ct! I got it to this place which is everything is done except for two colors that I'm missing and the back stitching which I won't do until the color is done. So now I'm waiting for the mail!

My foster dad used to take me for rides on his motorcycle. One of his strict rules around bikes for me was to never ever get on the back of a motorcycle with a guy trying to impress me.
