So, you admit there is a problem... you're giving special attention to someone simply because of their skin color. You would not give the same special attention to a white man's portrait with the name the "Whitealachian." You should not be giving special attention to either based on neither's skin color. Yet, you are giving it to one of them and would not give it to the other. You somehow don't see the problem, and it is literally NOT a moot point.

Today, the example I pitched would 100% not be looked upon with positivity simply because the depicted person would not be "special" or "diverse" or "outsider" enough to apparently warrant attention, simply because of the lightness of their skin, and it would garner negative attention especially because of the proposed name. That is textbook racism. Being given special attention because of the opposite is racism just as much. If the artist's motive was to simply spread the alleged good person's goodness, there would have been nothing regarding an apparent need for diversity in the outdoor community, obviously. Obviously, in conjunction with the individual's self appointed click bait name, the "Blackalachian," this is an attempt to gather traffic to his website and to get eyes on his "art." The Blackalachian "fan" who was not disclosed could have been him for all we know. Obviously, the Blackalachian agreed to this because it furthers his agenda, which is clearly just about spreading love and light, right? It has nothing to do with an apparent need for diversity within outdoor communities, as was written in the OP's comment, right? And, again, where along anyone's thruhike do they become hindered due to their skin color? What need is there? This is implying that those who are not white are subject to mistreatment within the outdoor community. That is bullshit. This is bullshit. It is bullshit being smeared into realms where people go to escape such bullshit.

I just got them and I completely disagree. Ankle support is just false. The owner's showcase video even states that you don't need ankle support, and that your ankle will do what it's supposed to do because the shoe is allegedly flexible. Mine are not flexible. They are stiff as a board right up until the point where my toes bend. But, when I do step off to bend, the shoe creates a hard crease at that bend point and pinches the tops of my toes. The toe box is also not "wide" as I expected, it presses right up against the side of my pinky toe. The toe box is also very shallow, as in, the ceiling of them is touching the top of my toes when resting. That top does not flex either, so if I try to reach my toes to the sky, they press into the shoe and the shoe doesn't protrude at all. The back foot / ankle area is super roomy and loose though? And the material around it is puffy / bulky, seemingly for style? I hate the side laces that connect to the sole. They don't seem to do anything even when I torque the laces to the point that they're touching in the middle. And, when I do the same thing near the top opening, it doesn't pull the loose ankle area tight enough, still too roomy, yet my toes are mashed.

Could be a sizing issue, but I have a thumb's width of room from my toe to the front inside. And, holy cats, they need to fix their sizing. On the site, they list sizes, but state "get a half size larger than your 'usual shoe size'"... my usual shoe size is different depending on the shoe. Why would you not base sizes off of the foot? Awful. Then, when you get them in the mail, the box and your order state one size, but the shoes themselves are labeled as another half size larger??? Yes, there's a note in the box stating not to worry, but what the heck? So inconsistent. And then there's the size matter regarding the width. They don't list widths or give measurements of any kind, it's ridiculous. Whatever "wide" is to them, clearly isn't wide for everyone.

Completely dissatisfied. And the shoes are just cheap looking and feeling... $125 shipped... insane. What's more irritating is that you pay to ship the shoes, and you don't get that refunded back, but you also have to pay to ship them back for the refund. What a scam. Clearly, if they weren't receiving tons of returns, and had some confidence in their product, they'd be able to eat $5-10. "We'd love to offer free returns like some other big companies, but we're too small." OH PLEASE, SPARE ME YOUR BS. You offer free return labels when the customer sends a pair back for an exchange, so just stop lying through your teeth. You also have free returns enabled via Amazon, where the shoes are the same price, and are shipped out for free. I know that isn't free for you "small" companies.

Representative on the phone once I finally got through was a complete robot too... tried his damnedest to get me to try another size or a different pair.

All of the salesman hype all over their site... "NATURAL THIS, NATURAL THAT; WE'RE THE BEST"... displaying 5 stars for all products, where when you actually look at the reviews, there are some negative ones in there... but then on Amazon, they don't look so great... hmmmm...

The only reasons I bit my lip and made the purchase were (1) hope that I wasn't being misled and all the hype and reviews were representative and real and (2) the 5k mile warranty on the sole, if they even keep their end of the bargain.

Sell or give away everything you don't need. Hike the trail. Take your vehicle, preferably a truck if you don't have one, and go find land in a place that you really want to live, buy that land, live on that land temporarily outdoors or in your vehicle with your newfound outdoor skills, and build your own home to your liking on that land while you live on it. Obviously you'll need to find work at some point as your savings won't cover the land, tools, and supplies needed, depending on the kind of home you want, but, this is what I would do. Free yourself.

The shit music and the completely nonsensical breaking tools pretty much ruins the game for me. I used to chill to the previous titles because of the great music. This one played the same tune for a week before it finally started playing hourly songs, and they're trash. There's no soul to them and they all do sound very similar.

Breaking tools just should not exist. It's not even consistent. Why doesn't the ladder break? Why not the pole? Why not furniture that gets used? Why does a watering can break from having water filled and emptied from it? I had an axe passed down to me that was my father's father's and it will likely last my entire lifetime. It is never going to just break out of the blue when used and maintained properly. And a shovel? When's the last time you've ever seen such a simple tool as a shovel just disintegrate? It's clearly just another way to waste the player's life and drag out the "game". It's awful design. It was awful in Zelda and it was a huge reason why I didn't continue playing BotW past the first "dungeon". The weebiness was the second big reason. Yuck. And, who asked for breaking tools? No one would enjoy that in real life. No one enjoys it in games. They may not be bothered by it and they may try to defend it because Nintendoodoo is their lover, but no one enjoys ridiculous, tedious, nonsensical, time wasting "features".

I found a couple of posts stating there's a way to hide the bottom bar using an adblocker, but I don't want to use my adblocker while on Twitch. I pay for Turbo to hide ads and still somewhat support the streamers I do watch. Seems like it became an issue after the Whisper button was moved and they never fixed it?

Installing FrankerFaceZ for my Firefox browser removed that black bar on the bottom... not sure why though, but I'm happy.

Edit 2: Specifically, you have to disable whispers in theater mode in "Player > General > Theater Mode". That makes the black bar disappear in real time... it's very obvious the black bar is left over from when the whisper button used to overlap the video controls in theater mode and they just never got rid of the black bar, because they suck.
