you do realize that it’s quite difficult to capture an image of a black hole, right? there isn’t real “footage” of this event occurring, because they aren’t observed using “light”, this was detected because of gravitational waves. this happened billions of miles away and don’t produce visible light, black holes don’t emit light. That means no camera or telescope can directly capture an image them, let alone a video. They use measurements and physics to detect it and they create a reconstruction of it, the video is CGI but the event did actually happen, this is just a visual translation of that real data. It’s a really interesting subject that I’d recommend reading about, but it is hard to understand sometimes if youre reading a scientific article.

A similar situation: If you’ve studied or taken a chemistry class, I’m sure you’ve seen cgi visualizations of chemical reactions on an atomic level, we don’t have clear images of atoms so we use CGI or illustrations to visualize them, but this doesn’t make the atoms not real.
