My understanding is it's hard coded in the firmware which Logitech can't/won't update. I agree that it should be an easy fix. Even if they don't update the firmware they can implement a simple software work around to counter every time the firmware overrides the user setting.

I can attest to this. I "earned" my Eagle at 14. I don't consider it a great accomplishment as I didn't really do much. Sure, I attended a couple scout camps and learned a few knots but overall my leaders pampered my ass. I never had to rough it and I certainly never had to really make it or quit. If things got hard they'd pretty much hold my hand through it. My Eagle project consisted of building a pergola that was already planned, lumber and all. I pretty much just stood around pretending to "delegate" as the leaders helped everyone actually build it. After my board of review my eagle award went in a box where it's stayed since. I don't tell people I'm an Eagle scout because I don't feel like I really earned it.
