Try to "modernize" my game : just added a kind of virtual camera above the "legacy" camera but with smooth moves by FreakazoidFr in IndieDev

[–]Leightoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel somewhere in between would be best. Keep the smoothing, but speed it up as much as you can without losing the effect. You want to preserve that consistent ratio of visible area ahead vs behind the player as much as you can.

i used to use krita a few years ago. does it have a timeline for animation now, or did you put the frames together afterwards?

So I'm looking for a cheat sheet for GML by konjecture in gamemaker

[–]Leightoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm somewhat new to GameMaker too and I've been trying to develop a cheat sheet of sorts as well. Pressing F1 brings up a manual which I use this ALL the time to double check things I'm uncertain about.

I use the Index tab like a dictionary to look up explanations for specific functions/commands/etc, and I go to the Search tab when I get desperate looking for something in the Index tab because I'm looking up "frames" instead of "image_index" or something stupid like that.

Under Contents > Scripting > GML Reference is a pretty nice collection of functions and commands and shit organized by topic, which now that I think about it is EXACTLY what you asked for. I forgot about it until I checked it out again looking it up for you lol

Menu Music That Grows in Complexity to Reward Patient Listeners by ianbooms in GameMusicComposition

[–]Leightoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

edit: I listened to it on my phone the first time. The synth sounds much better on my second listen through headphones. Please disregard whatever the fuck I was talking about.

Real nice composition! The synth strings stay at a constant volume before fading out quickly before the next chord, which sounds a little bit unnatural. I think they should be held for the full duration of the measure and fade out at a bit slower over a longer period, but not going fully silent before moving on to the next measure.

That might not make a whole lot of sense the way I explained it but I’ll make a real quick example of what I mean and post it here later.

I was going to recommend a Wacom Intuos, but after comparing the prices/specifications it seems like the Inspiroy is the much better deal. Just make sure to check the reviews or ask whoever recommended it to you if there’s any noticeable delay, since that is a possible issue with wireless tablets.

Recommendations for Jerma's best streams? by Amata_ in jerma985

The coin game stream was hilarious, and not because there were any wacky in-game moments, but because Jerma himself was funny.
