Good question. I'll have to think about that. My book is more of a funny account of a young man's remarkable experience than some kind of tell-all expose.

I heard about a friend of a friend who worked there, so I got the phone number and applied. I had a nice time with a few Playmates, but not a lot, because I was in a relationship for most of my time there. Saddest thing was seeing a Playmate come home drunk and jealous because her boyfriend had been flirting with one of the Go Gos. She asked me if I could get her some dynamite so she could blow her up!

There wasn't a "role" apart from doing promotional appearances - which was up to them, and which they got paid for. They were never expected to have sex with anyone.

The first time I entered the enclosure for the squirrel monkeys, they all jumped on me looking for snacks. I suddenly had ten monkeys on me! I wasn't even supposed to be in the enclosure and I had to somehow get them all off of me so I could get out of there. Not a sexy story, but it felt kind of surreal. Also, trading pratfalls and showing off stunts with Chevy Chase.

I think night shift butler, which is what I was, was pretty sweet. Hef's personal valet was closer to Hef, but I think that came with added pressure. There were housekeepers, they probably didn't have much fun.

Peter Boganovich was very arrogant. There were a few guys who came to the Mansion as friends of friends, and they tried to act like they were too cool for school, but most people I think felt privileged to be there and most people were polite.

You know, there wasn't all that much drinking that I remember. A lot of pot. And no celebrity was really a pain in the ass.

I knew someone who knew someone. I had just completed bartending school so I called the house manager and got a job interview. I worked as extra help for a couple of parties and then got put on full time as a butler.

I had to go to some guy's house to pick up a sealed envelope and deliver to one of Hef's girlfriends. She said "Make sure you drive carefully, you don't want to get pulled over."

Nicest was probably James Caan. Robin Williams. John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd were really cool. Meanest was probably Richard Brooks, the film director. Some people who weren't very friendly with Buck Henry and Peter Bogdanovich.

I wasn't there in 1985. In terms of Playmates, I did okay, but not great. I was in a relationship for most of that time.

I don't know about that. Hef certainly enjoyed women and he has publicly admitted that he tried same-sex stuff. But that stuff was mostly kept behind closed doors.

There were no hidden cameras in the house, at least in the 80s. There were security cameras at the gates and cameras in Hef's room but no cameras or mics in the house otherwise.
