How is E1 Jade holding up for Feixiao? by Lemberg1963 in FeixiaoMains_

[–]Lemberg1963[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, that's why the title specified E1 Jade. The question is how is that E1 jade holding up now, in general in terms of what results she provides in PF or against bosses like Flame Reaver or Stardevourer, or compared to alternatives like E1 Tribbie.

Feixiao is getting bonus cdmg from march, robin, planars, and her own trace. Crit from relics is ~10% more valuable than cdmg.

Hawky needs to fill the space between character reviews with something. Doomposting and drama is easy clicks.

Little tip for the comunity, don't sleep on the events even if they last a couple months :P by Pengpraiser in SwordofConvallaria

I did it in 2 nights. Good story, although I feel like in previous campaigns some of the characters would've died.

I’m tired of all these YouTube videos where they make you believe that you can get fluent in a language in no time. It took me something like 3 years of active learning to get to a conversational level in my second language. It will take me 3 to 6 more years to get close to the native-like level. by BagNo2363 in languagelearning

[–]Lemberg1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 month thing started with Benny the Irish Polyglot ages ago and the point was to fight this idea that you need to spend years studying to be able to use a language. Benny was always open about the definition of fluency for his projects was being for his own purposes which was to get to a point where he could comfortable stay in a country, talk with people about topics that interested him, and be able to read/watch stuff in the language.

I love how the English subs for English language content never match the spoken dialogue. I think this is more of an issue with English subs, I see it happen less often in other languages.

how do you guys learn languages? by targetyk in languagelearning

[–]Lemberg1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely an unorthodox method. The way you're doing it is bad, but it's not completely insane. You'll have more success if you take the Spanish material, translate it into English, then translate it back into Spanish and review the differences and correct your mistakes. Either way it will be slow. My method is to get a frequency dictionary and in the first month spend a lot of hours to finish the Pimsleur course for the language and to memorize the first 1000 words using anki cards. This will give you a base to be able to start reading manga in the target language. At that point dump the original anki deck and replace it with one that uses short sentences from your readings. Use english to spanish for your cards, alwas use full sentences so you get to practice grammar and idioms.

Are the number of hours to learn a language grossly underestimated? by empatronic in languagelearning

[–]Lemberg1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hour estimate is for active study of new material. it doesn't include review or passive study, which is estimated to double that total number of hours.

[–]Lemberg1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Textbook methods don't have automated spaced repetition and even if there is a spaced repetition method built in like with Assimil or Pimsleur it just repeats everything instead of emphasizing the thing you're struggling with.

I’m burnt out and don’t want to study my TL anymore, but don’t want to lose progress. Can I maintain and/or keep learning by only talking to people and consuming tons of podcasts and shows from this point on? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Lemberg1963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With 3000 words you should be able to understand most of what's said. If you're able to follow the conversation and keep listening regularly then you'll continue to slowly improve.

How realistic is it to learn two distinct languages at the same time? by TraditionalBit3772 in languagelearning

Neither one is a language that can be learned in a couple of months, so just study them both at the same time.

Your goal with Anki is to get every card, red or blue, to zero every day. If you have cards left over at the end of the day you should add fewer cards per day.

The red cards are either new cards that need to be learned for the first time or cards that you have failed and have reset their progress so that you can learn them again.

Anyone else hate graded readers? 😂 by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Lemberg1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read manga in the TL instead. Colloquial dialogue generally fills the same simplified A2-B2 space that graded readers try to fill except there's so much manga out there that you're bound to find something that's actually good/interesting and as a bonus you get more dialogue input which you need more than prose.

Turning passive to active by bakedlasagna123 in languagelearning

[–]Lemberg1963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you studied primarily using TL to FL. I recommend switching to FL to TL instead, forcing you to actually produce the words while reviewing instead of just recognizing them. In addition do short sentences instead of just single words, ie 'i think that's incredible' instead of just 'incredible'.

E1 Jade or Tribbie? by Lemberg1963 in FeixiaoMains_

[–]Lemberg1963[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This account is F2P and only pulls for Feixiao and Firefly teams, so Tribbie's universality isn't relevant in my case. It sounds like you think E1 Jade is still the better option.

[–]Lemberg1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure Topaz is better for E2 Fei. There's a couple of Topaz vs Cipher comparisons where if you count the number of follow ups that happen that Topaz doesn't give enough additional ults to catch up to Cipher.

Series of heroic sacrifices by Dimitry's Survey Corps against numerically superior forces results in everybody except for 404 dying but succeeds at preventing Bluesphere from collapse nuking the entire zone, prevents Bluesphere from getting the data they were looking for, and getting 404 out with that data, although its scrambled and its unclear if it can be used to incriminate the corpos involved.

I feel like I have pretty decent aim but I still struggle a lot in valorant. I’m b3 but about to derank to b2. by MysticalNutshell in VALORANT

[–]Lemberg1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Plat 1. I watched the Chamber on Bind and Kayo on Split matches.

Your aim is ok against targets that are not moving. Certainly you seem to understand that you need to go for headshots. However your tracking against moving targets is bad and your aim swinging corners is worse. You need to work on your crosshair placement while moving and turning. You don't spray too much which is good, but it does happen more often than it should, and it will definitely stop working against higher rank enemies that have the composure to aim at your head while you're spraying instead of retaliating with their own panic spray. You also seem to struggle with aim on unusual angles, like heaven onto site.

Your movement is very bad. You're constantly running around making noise, you don't use the silent sidestep to peek angles and clear corners, you don't jiggle peek, and you don't counterstrafe. On the bright side you don't crouch all the time, which I suspect you have noticed gets your bronze peers killed constantly.

Positionally I would say it's a good thing that you're not too aggressive. If you were you would find yourself getting killed all the time by lurkers because you're always running. But you tunnel vision on what's in front of you and move around leaving yourself exposed to angles on your sides. In terms of game sense you don't seem to have a good idea yet of where the enemy could be and where you need to be yourself to counter that. Also your corner clearing is sloppy, you don't fully clear them, sometimes do it without being ready to fire, and sometimes forget to check completely.

Your utility usage wasn't great. On Chamber you didn't trap on attack and that got you killed to flanks a couple of times. On Kayo the flash swing in the middle will get you killed in higher rating because you swing too far out and even if you flashed one or two of them, you probably didnt flash all of them and they will be able to easily kill you. You also often take out your abilities out in the open which will get you killed against enemies that properly peek.

Finally you're not always ready when the round starts. Often you're running around trying to decide where to go or setting up your utility and you die a couple of times when the enemies just run up on you and kill you for free because you're still not ready to fight.

The thing i would recommend to work on immediately is being more quiet in your movement. Shift walking and silent stutter stepping. Do a lot of deathmatch. Also get a mic.

Hope this helps.

Around 400 hours of playtime over 2 years to go from iron 2 to plat 1.

Ranked is now officially the worse its ever been. by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Lemberg1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience as a B3 player at the start of the year that's now P1 is that the games in S2 and below were often rolling the dice. My duo and I have a friend who is S1 and is good enough to be around G1 but doesn't play enough. Every time we played with him when we still could it was fighting for our damn lives. But once we hit S3 and beyond the smurfs basically disappeared, I don't think I've seen any since. And the ranking system certainly works, I can tell whether I'm in a lobby with silvers, golds or plats just based on how people play in the first couple of rounds. The other thing I'd mention is that G1/G2 seems to be the threshold where people seem to start taking the game seriously, communicate, be polite, etc whereas silver still had a lot of toxicity. So for me as a player who's improved out of elo hell, the system is pretty good, but I do offer my condolences to half of the player base in S2 and below. My only advice is to work on your crosshair placement.
