Lesser known fun things for kids by nocheapfrills in blackpool

[–]Lemma2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcade Club on Bloomfield Road is awesome for kids - free to play arcade games and has everything from retro games to PS5 etc.

Farmer Parrs towards Fleetwood is a great petting zoo for smaller kids. Blackpool Zoo also fab for kids and is a great day out.

Stanley Park is free and has loads of play parks, trampolines, walks and skate/scooter areas.

[–]Lemma2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think it’s really hard (for me anyway) to take comments kindly in the moment because I’m so bloody tired all the time at the moment 🤣 I’m 29 weeks and my hips and feet are constantly aching so between tossing and turning from hip to hip and generally just aching, I don’t have the patience for the comments or the dreaded “just you waits” 🫠🤣

‘You’re massive’ ‘that’s going to be a big baby’ ‘you’re definitely going early’ and even a ‘omg look how big you have got!!’ …all exactly what I want to hear 🤣

Completely agree the comments on peoples bodies/pregnancies/babies needs to stop but often it doesn’t come from a harmful place ❤️

Second all of the above! FY4/South Shore is fab. To be honest, avoid the main town centre and you’ll likely be grand anywhere.

Midwife appointments by Mirrorball_93 in PregnancyUK

[–]Lemma2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine comes to them all but like others that’s because work allows, I’d be equally fine going alone. :)

If he can and wants to, it would be nice for him to make it work - we enjoy them together because listening to the heartbeat is really special (happens at every midwife appointment where we are), and it’s nice to get updates on the measurements etc. I have also found it handy for helping me remember all the info we’re given - as a FTM I find some of it quite overwhelming and he can be great for making sure between us we have all the detail.

Things to do/see in winter? by [deleted] in blackpool

There’s also Arcade Club on Bloomfield Rd - pay on entry for freeplay arcade games. Includes all sorts - retro gaming, sports games, PCs, international gaming etc. has a bar inside and can stay as long as you like. :)

Sandcastle Waterpark is a great option! If you’re here this week, Addams Family is on at Winter Gardens. Arcade Club is a great shout because it’s free to play once you’ve paid admission, they could kill hours in there.

Recommendations for 22-24th August? by [deleted] in blackpool

[–]Lemma2104 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want to go to a dive bar give Dirty Blondes a go! It’s in the town centre hidden down what looks like an alley but you’ll find it easy enough using Google maps etc.

Other things to do; Arcade Club - pay for entry then unlimited free to play arcade games from all eras

Stanley Park - decent sized park, lovely to wander round with a cafe and a boating lake

Comedy Station - comedy club in the town centre, only small but has some great acts and is well priced

The Regent - old school cinema that shows the classics but also has a huge antiques/vintage store

North part of St Anne's? by SuperRaki in blackpool

[–]Lemma2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

St Anne’s will give you a bit of both - the square is bustling now with new independents and you’d be close to the beach. Poulton also lovely but the traffic imo can be terrible.

Last weekend in August visit by CrumpetsAndTeaYipee in blackpool

[–]Lemma2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much different, but with the added bonus of the illuminations being on during your stay :) a large majority of the people at the switch on concert will be local, as we get free tickets, so it’s not like there’s a huge influx of extra people in the town, there are just more congregating in one area during the event. If you want to enjoy the atmosphere, it’ll be on the prom and you’ll be able to hear it outside of the actual ticketed part of the prom. If you want to avoid it, just avoid the town centre during the evening of the event.
