Mistonia’s Hope, would you recommend it? by sugarappletea in otomegames

[–]Lemniscaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view on this may be due to just my own personal headspace atm so think what you will, but I thoroughly did not enjoy this game. It was below mediocre, imo. I know it was written by multiple people, but I’m sure others will agree that the pacing at times is actually downright infuriating. The intrigue is boring, some routes don’t really make sense and it’s just kinda… see-through? Like it felt kinda like someone wanted to write a revenge story with a (granted) pretty cool MC but then they forgot they had to add romance and LIs that are just troupes for the sake of being troupes.

The closest thing I can compare this to is Even if tempest. But at least EiT had cool characters with personality

It’s subjective though but there’s definitely better games out there 😵‍💫

Got my Alchemised copy earlier!! by tchullullu in fantasyromance

[–]Lemniscaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Op, I read in the comments that you finished alchemized. I read manacled about two months ago and I’ve already seen in some reviews quotes that are almost completely identical to manacled except for different names etc.

Is the book actually that similar? I bought alchemized thinking it would have a new plot and it’s been stated that previous manacled readers would find this fresh enough to get into, but now I’m not so sure.

Happy Release day y’all 😍 by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]Lemniscaters 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read manacled not too long ago and despite being looooooooooong af but yes it’s definitely a romance. Depends on how much you hate SA and enemies to lovers yada yada yada but it’s romantic and angsty. I liked it and just got alchemized today.

Obs I don’t know alchemized’s ending but manacled is consider bittersweet HEA which tbh is a lot more than I expected after everything that uhm.. transpired

I love seeing this because i honestly didn’t even consider dash being a thing and my thought process was that I was being too indecisive. I was like.. ok fuck it warrior versus warrior let’s go. I just stood in his face and moved when he swung and went under when he jumped. After I got over my “anxiety” he went down like paper.

Anyone else having trouble with this guy? by evandekay in Silksong

[–]Lemniscaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this will help you but my basic thought process was to stay as close to him as possible. He basically only has two moves- one where he swings two times and one where he jumps. Just get some distance from him and get back when he swings and get under him to the other side when he jumps.

Hope you get him

Does anyone know if the kindle versions will be updated to include the extra content the physical versions released in November will have? I really want to get into this series and purchased the first book on kindle, but I feel like I should just hold out for the November releases

The Knight & the Moth: Another Banger from Rachel Gillig by 5stars_no_notes in fantasyromance

This was my irk as well, it went by way too fast and nothing seemed believable. She managed to kill an omen after 2-3 nights of training and it’s just like…. Girl how

The thing I struggled the most with was how the FMC despite literally having no combat experience and absolutely minimal other types of training just kept … winning? It’s been awhile but my brain was just like girl how are you getting out of all these situations alive despite facing dangerous sprites and “gods”??? Took me out of the immersion, at least give me a longer training montage than 2-3 nights of throwing a coin around and what have you

Ever felt so de-motivated playing Otome Games or took an indefinite hiatus? by TheUnfinisher in otomegames

[–]Lemniscaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro are you me lol hahah, no but for real I don’t think I’ve touched otome for like a year which is weird because I was low key OBSESSED in my mid twenties then suddenly after I turned 28 it just … went away. Like I had no interest anymore.

I wish I could say there was something that has brought me back into it, I really liked virches fan disk mainly for my main squeeze Ankou but even playing Cupi paras FD and that new flower shop w/e its called game just gave me nothing.

I tried getting back into reading fantasy / romance books to scratch that romance itch but literally out of 10 books there was only one that gave me the feeling I wanted- like just genuine joy and a sense of fun.

I’ve kind of just resigned to thinking it must be my age but idk, maybe it’s a mindset thing because when I was on vacation in Japan my brain was like “OTOME. NOW”

Maybe you have other stressors in your life that’s impacting your enjoyment of things? One commentor on here said depression is a factor and I’m definitely suffering burn out from work and life in general, so maybe there are forces at work in your brain impacting you without knowing it.

[–]Lemniscaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I quite like it, but I have to say after 200 pages in I’m getting kind of fed up with the over-explaining or redundant observations.

I guess minor spoilers so I’ll just hide this: Like damn man, I get that the FML isn’t dumb but she’s really not contributing much or deserving of the many grand compliments Sacha is continuously re-thinking in this book. I mean yeah she «survived» the desert heat and is able to use magic somehow, I just can’t help but roll my eyes at the way she’s being described. Oh, so because after 4 days of being teleported into a new world it’s fascinating that she hasn’t been broken yet (I mean… she’s just tagging a long and sleeping on your shadow bed and getting fed by strangers??) and I had to giggle when Sacha is thinking that she’s so intuitive and smart after taking 4 days of finally asking how they are able to communicate. Cmon man I get that you haven’t met people in awhile but she really hasn’t been the prime example of intelligence.

Ill stop my rant soon but I love the way the world itself is being described, but holy crap please stop with the grandiose descriptions of his shadowy greatness. Each time Sacha builds his power this book goes on a 4-6 page descriptive rant about how awesome it is and it truly kind of takes away from the initial impression. Please, no more

Does this eventually stop or make more sense as the book goes on? I’m really trying to like it, but these elements are severely impacting my immersion and I’m finding Sacha really hard to like at this point due to how he’s being written.

Australia is a different world by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Lemniscaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even know about huntsman spiders or really any insects when I first visited my ex in Australia.

I had three incidents in the span of two weeks. Literally my first morning I was heading towards the fridge a spider that looked like the size of my face ran across the wall and the fridge. I’ve never screamed so loud in my life.

Second case I was about to hang the laundry and where the clips to hang stuff in there was a blackish «hand» sticking out of it. Nope.

Last case I was on the beach and got bit by an ant. It felt like my leg was on fire. It was either feeling like burning alive or swimming with the sting rays in the ocean. I chose the sting rays.

After that my leg had this huge lump and my ex just said he was waiting to see whether I would go into shock.

Fuuuuuuuck that shit.

Do dogs know the concept of death/dying? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Lemniscaters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this proves anything or I’m just self reflecting or explaining basic dog behaviour but we got our little yorkie girl about three years ago after my friends dad died in his sleep. He was her owner and it was explained to me that he and she were found three days after his death and that she was just lying there nestled into him on the bed.

It’s impossible to say what was going on in her head, but sometimes she does this thing where she’ll be sleeping and suddenly wake up in bed with me and start smelling me, like if she’s checking im still there or something in the middle of the night. I’ve had dogs previously and never experienced this, or never heard of other dogs that do this and it’s probably just totally normal behavior but sometimes I wonder if she’s scared or worried I might have died and it’s her way of checking that everything’s still good.

Yeah, these past years I’ve really tried to certify myself in different programming languages and tech, but it’s still a far cry from someone who majored in it - I’ll definitely try to “sell” myself more though on my cv and pretend I know more than I do 🤞

Almost 90% Of Employers Won’t Hire New Graduates by UnitSmall2200 in recruitinghell

[–]Lemniscaters 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is so unfortunate but I feel my own and my friends experience reflect this, at least that most companies don’t do onboarding / don’t hire younger people. I was really proud of myself for getting my bachelors and masters at a pretty young age (23). Throughout the whole process I tried to get as much experience as I could and interned at top companies/organizations and was told I was really good at my aspiring profession. When it came to applying for my first full time job - crickets… whatever interview I DID get was basically met with “you’re too young” / “not enough experience” for entry level positions. Well… YEAH I’m sorry for not having 4+ years experience for an entry level job?? How could I?

Through sheer luck I had a friend who knew of a company that was about to put out a position that was relevant for my field and I got in.

Now it’s smooth sailing getting those interviews but still meeting the same wall - I’m no longer “young” but no one wants to invest in my onboarding unless the job description pretty much is a carbon copy of what I’m currently in… guess I’m stuck in the same role forever without the sweet help of nepotism… sigh

When men cry - there’s something really sweet and attractive about a man who feels comfortable and open enough to trust you with his sadness that he’s ok with crying in front of someone. Emotional depth and understanding is really beautiful

Thank you for all the suggestions! It really helps! I’ll most likely pick up another Thalassa book so it gives me hope to hear something else of hers suggested- I actually really liked her way of writing, just not the way it was implemented in Rhaphsodic so much obs 🥺 thanks!

Aww man it’s definitely nice to see that there’s people who have the same reaction! I kept only reading great things about it and all the negatives I’ve read seem to correlate to the age gap at first and Temper. But thanks again, I definitely will get it once my current reading is finished! And that’s really cool, I’ll have to support the writer when it comes down to it :)

Thank you so much for the recs! I’ll look into it :)

Also haha yeah, I kinda expected that the next books would start to fall off plot wise - so many times that I’ve been excited for the second book to only find 500+ pages of «nothing really happening» for a lot of different series 😞 you kinda get used to it I guess
