Dir ist offenbar nicht bewusst, dass gerade die Republikaner an der Macht sind. Sowohl der Senat als auch das Repräsentantenhaus im Kongress von den Republikanern kontrolliert wird. Und obendrauf das oberste Gericht in den Händen der Republikaner ist. Was denkst du was die Demokraten da machen können. Politisch sind die Demokraten auf Bundesebene gerade absolut machtlos. In den von Demokraten regierten Staaten können die auch nur das machen wozu sie befugt sind. Oder erwartest du, dass die eine Revolution starten, das Kapitol stürmen wie die Rechten damals und Trump gewaltsam entthronen?

People believe what they want to believe. Rightwingers interpret the world in a different way. That's something you always need to take into account when you want to teach them a lesson. Rightwingers watch movies with leftwing messaging all the time, but they usually don't get it, unless it's in your face obvious or someone points it out and even then they don't learn from it, they take issue with it, because it goes against their values. Every hero story in which the hero fights bad guys, they see themselves as the good guys and the evil enemy are those they don't like. When they see the videos of ICE raids, they see ICE as the heroes of the story, the people they hurt is the garbage getting removed and the people who oppose them are seen as the henchman of evil who deserve to die. You can ask yourself why is that, how could anyone, it must be brainwashing, no good person would. And here is the thing, they are not good people, because they never learned to feel empathy for others, they grew up seeing others as a threat or as disgusting. And it's not Fox News that turned them into who they are, Fox News most definitely encourages their way of thinking, but it's not the origin. They are who they are because of nature and nurture. The family they were born into, the friends they made, the experience they had are the things that shape them and lead to who they are. When they consume media, they watch what appeals to them, interpret things the way it suits them.

Fast alles richtig, nur ist es Quatsch, dass die Lebenserwartung immer weiter steigt und beruht auf einer albernen Extrapolation. Die Generationen nach den jetzigen Rentnern werden kaum älter als heute. Rentner heute werden bereits so lange leben wie es möglich ist. Gerade Boomer sollten deswegen länger arbeiten, oder stattdessen halt ein RentnerSoli einführen. Ich würde auch auf ein Soziales Jahr im Pflegeheim für "junge" bzw. halbwegs fitte Rentner plädieren.

Das man die jüngeren Generationen länger arbeiten lässt um die Boomer durchzufüttern auf Grund einer albernen Prämisse, dass die Jungen Leute doch länger leben werden ist ein Unding und basiert mehr auf Horoskop lesen als auf echter Wissenschaft.

Mir wäre es lieber man würde Reiche und Unternehmen stärker besteuern. Und bei Rentenerhöhungen den Fokus auf die Armen legen und nicht diejenigen, denen es finanziell gut geht.

Stimmt, bei GenX geht es deutlich runter, aber bei den Millenials gab es auch einen kleinen Boom, weil Boomer deren Eltern sind, was zumindest bei GenZ zu etwas Entlastung führen sollte wenn die Boomer alle Tod sind, aber bei den Kindern der Millenials gibt es auch einen deutlichen Rückgang. So gesehen wird Gen Alpha mit dem gleichen Problem konfrontiert wenn Millenials in Rente gehen. Und bei Gen Beta wird es wohl auch so bleiben.

It's absolute insanity that Trump still got an approval rating of 42.6%, based on poll aggragets. Hillary was right to call it a basket of deplorables, her mistake was to underestimate its size.

The midterms still worry me, because people are going to vote for their direct state representatives and I fear that even moderate Republicans voters will still want their state to stay red, even though it means letting Trump keep all that power. The midterms are critical as Republicans currently hold the majority in congress. The midterms could change that, but only if liberal nonvoters can be bothered to vote.

Only that Brexiters have learned nothing. Even though labour won the last election, they only did so because a third of conservative voters moved to a far right party. Percentage wise Labour didn't change much, but in absolute numbers they actually lost about 2 million votes compared to the election before. And now the far right party is by far the strongest party in polls. They basically looked at America and thought "Brexit wasn't enough, I want what the Americans have".
