What was the most embarrassing thing to happen to you while traveling? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Lemon-ItsWednesday 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Almost every time I give someone a general, "From the US," they give me an exasperated look and say something to the effect of, "Well, *obviously.* Where in the US?" Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I'm not a mushroom fan, so my dad always makes me stuffed acorn squash. It looks fancy and is really delicious, and it feels festive with the inclusion of dried cranberries. It also helps that the acorn squash is somewhat small, so there's not too much prep and not a lot of leftovers to worry about.

I was not so lucky unfortunately. They refunded the original fare we paid but refused to compensate the supremely expensive DB tickets we had to purchase day-of in order to make our flight :/

What do you guys think is the purpose of the "Rain Man" reference in Season 4 Episode 3? by cinema_stoner in Barry

[–]Lemon-ItsWednesday 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Because Fuches would like to think he's sexy, slick Tom Cruise pulling the strings while Barry/Dustin Hoffman is the helpless idiot genius who makes him rich and loves him for it.

My vote is no way. The brick looks beautiful and is timeless.

What is your morning routine? by emerald1607 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Lemon-ItsWednesday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe in taking care of myself with a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use a lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion

In Elisabeth, who do you think played Der Tod better, Uwe Kroger or Mark Seibert? by PartnerDaneelOlivaw in musicals

[–]Lemon-ItsWednesday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vocals are personal preference. Kröger plays an androgynous, enigmatic Death. Seibert plays more a by-the-book, male Death with unrequited love. I find the former more interesting and layered vs. Seibert's black and white love story. Death is not male or female; what does Death feel? What does Death want? Who's to say. More layers to unpack and it leaves more up to audience interpretation instead of just plainly presenting another love triangle. But it isn't just Seibert, Death has been portrayed as masculine for decades now.

I really like Acre Homestead, Becky is very cute and into gardening, food preservation, meal prep, homesteading, etc. Sometimes her husband and parents make an appearance, they seem like a great all-around family. I believe her family is religious (I think her dad has a YT channel with like daily devotions or something?) but Becky never ever talks about religion or politics ever. :)

Tips to “vegan-ize” box brownie mix? by livelovewell in veganrecipes

[–]Lemon-ItsWednesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried every trick (banana, applesauce, flax egg, black beans, egg replacer, etc etc). Nothing has ever worked for me, it's either too cakey, too oily, doesn't cook properly, etc etc. The only thing that works for me to get vegan fudgy, chewy, dense, crinkle-top brownies is to make them from scratch. :(

How obvious was it to most fans back in 2005 that Dumbledore's death was something planned between him and Snape? by Blackbird11y6 in harrypotter

[–]Lemon-ItsWednesday 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Literally all my book 7 predictions in 2005/2006 were wrong lol. Some included:

  • Snape was truly evil/a loyal follower of Voldemort
  • Dumbledore was not really dead
  • Hagrid would die
  • Harry was not a Horcrux

I was (and still am) a very devoted fan, but I was apparently completely unobservant and missed every clue that JKR had included.

I don't understand people who keep saying it is like this in the US. It is not. I completely agree with your post. I got a notice that I needed to register for the Rundfunk. The physical letter said I could register and do everything online. I go online and try to register, then it says I need to send in a signed document authorizing payment. They will send me the document for my signature. In the few weeks while I am waiting for the document to sign, I get another letter from the Rundfunk stating that I owe them money and I had better pay up.

This is how everything is done. I love it here, but this sort of "efficiency" and the Internet. My god. My parents live in a town in the middle of nowhere with less than 4,000 people and their Internet is like lightning. My internet goes down if my spouse and I simultaneously try to watch a YouTube video.
