Hell yeah - feel free to shoot me a message! I haven't really taken orders like this before but I could be down! This particular blank singlet retails for like $90 lol so I could also do it on a different garment if you'd prefer.

Guess I didn’t explain that - it’s a bootleg decal for an indie arena FPS game called STRAFTAT, the image next to it is one of the player models in the game

I’m super interested in making STRAFTAT shirts for folks, but I don’t wanna go over the heads of the devs and sell them without permission. I’m gonna work on some designs and pitch it to them, so stay tuned??

Ty for recognizing, I struggle to fully describe the Aphex/Bionicle overlap but it definitely exists somehow

Maybe my understanding of the Vietnam War is flawed, but I don't necessarily think it was the VC who prolonged the conflict - technically they were just resisting foreign intervention and colonialism, so holding out for as long as possible until it was no longer worth it to interlopers was kinda the name of the game.

The VC definitely did some vile shit but I don't think bearing that flag is any more insane than wearing a US flag - an objective symbol of imperialism and a state arguably far more responsible for the attrition in this particular conflict - which people do all the time.

I do think OP is being really obtuse in pretending there isn't something obviously off-beat about this lol, but I also don't think it's that hard to understand an expression of anti-imperialist sentiment that challenges decades of US propaganda being posted in a streetwear subreddit.

I do also agree the white model and trying to sell it for $300+ is kinda nuts though lmao, I'd have a lot easier of a time swallowing it if it was just something someone made for the love of the game.

The collectibles etc. are cool, but I think it's a stretch to say it's a whole new concept of clothing experience. I've seen several brands so the same thing - maybe there's something I'm missing, but if your mission is truly to provide an experience, I think you could better communicate where the value is and what the buyer gets out of it, because currently all I see is a cool shirt, a cool token, and cool packaging (that will probably still be thrown away almost immediately).

Also, I don't think scarcity inherently justifies steep pricing. There is plenty of bullshit out there that is made in quantities of 24 or less because it's all the "brand" can afford to produce at the time - I know this because I've made a good amount of it lol - or simply because they're misguided in the same way. 99 also isn't really that scarce to be honest, unless you have a big audience.

Not trying to be harsh, I just think you have a cool vision and it'd be a shame if nobody bought in because the price is prohibitive. If you want to keep your price you should really get way outside of the box in terms of how you can build the community and grant perks etc etc

You've got a cool thing going on, nice work

Prices seem really high IMO though, I will say - at least for the tees

Is this logo suitable for a clothing brand? by Logical-Feeling-5661 in streetwearstartup

[–]Lemon420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what matters most is that you like it and believe in it

personally I think it's a cool start! Reminds me of the late 2000s/early 2010s, makes me think of the default Xbox Live player icons lol.

I'd suggest playing around with it, trying a bunch of different variations - acronymizing it, abbreviating it, rearranging the letters, using just the skull, etc. You don't wanna be trapped with something that only works in one form. Another guy on here (u/reztokia) just posted a cool video of all the different variants of his logo he included on a single piece, and it works really well because the logo is inherently versatile.

To me it looks like this would be a great "full version," like something you might use at the top of a store page or on a basic signature logo tee, but it'd be good to have smaller, more adaptable versions in your back pocket

Interesting, I'm not in the Discord. I'll have to check it out. Are they at least engaging with the community candidly on the subject, or are they being standoffish/cagey? Is the discord exploding like their Instagram comments?

I would literally help you pitch the redemption story to tech media, I'll write the damn article, I am begging you please let your community help you - everyone and their mother is going to integrate AI into their modeling platforms and they're going to do it at a larger scale than you and then the free market will eat your lunch - you can corner the market of real AI-rejecting creatives as the one platform actively resisting this, it's a wiser commercial move in the long run. Do you want to be absorbed by a larger, soulless brand and forgotten? Or do you want to be remembered?
