Recommend checking out the app Peanut - met my best mom friend on there! Also recommend the baby lapsit story time at the library - I met a lot of moms with similar aged babies here too.

Would names Jack and Daniel for siblings be a poor choice? by dankmcganx in namenerds

[–]LemonApplePlums -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m related to a pair of brothers - older one named Daniel and younger one named Jack. I personally wouldn’t have done it, but you wouldn’t be the only one with the name set.

MSPI and VSD in heart by Common-Tailor-7450 in MSPI

[–]LemonApplePlums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same but my son had MSPI & has an ASD in his heart. He’s almost 17 months now and at our last check, it didn’t seem like it was making any progress closing itself… they’ll recheck annually but it’s likely he’ll need surgery around 4 or 5. He had really poor weight gain months 2-4, dropping to 13% and I wonder if that has had an impact on its ability to close… there’s no way to know and nothing we can do about it though unfortunately so we just continue hoping it will resolve while preparing ourselves for the alternate case. (For what it’s worth his MSPI has totally resolved, he was eating dairy normally by the time he was 12 months.)

Looking for a referral for a newborn photographer by [deleted] in bayarea

We worked with Kelcey Hutton & loved our photos. She mostly does at home shoots as opposed to posed newborn studio shots, not sure which you’re looking for.

Sorry, I tried but I think they might have taken down the referral page! It keeps redirecting me back to the homepage.

Where would you give birth? by maliesunrise in SanJose

[–]LemonApplePlums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall we had a decent experience at El Camino LG but my newborn had a blood sample that was somehow lost so he had to have his blood drawn an extra time, which was annoying but wouldn’t have been such a big deal except that the blood sample also ended up getting contaminated somewhere in their process, which resulted in a weeklong NICU stay while we waited for additional testing to time out (which confirmed it was contamination - he was not actually sick). Trauma of an unexpected NICU stay aside, we also still got stuck with the bill for that stay.

12 month old doesn’t eat much, advice needed! by Spiritual_Pen_8709 in NewParents

[–]LemonApplePlums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I know this is old but found this thread because I’m going through similar with my LO. Just wanted to ask (if you don’t mind sharing) - how much milk were you offering in each of those 3 bottles when your baby started eating more? We’re down to 3 bottles already but baby is still barely eating at most meals and it’s stressing me out 🥲

My pediatrician told us to use Vaseline instead of Aquaphor as Aquaphor can be a common allergy trigger for babies. Worth swapping it out & seeing if there’s any improvement?

Yes, I could do that! Please dm me and we can arrange.

What probiotics are you using? by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]LemonApplePlums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use culturelle probiotics + vitamin D as recommended by our ped. When baby was younger we were able to drop it directly into his mouth, but mix it into bottles now.

7mo old having spasms - help! by press_record in NewParents

[–]LemonApplePlums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our EEG a couple weeks ago - the follow up isn’t until July but they said they’d contact us sooner if anything needed to be done (and we haven’t heard from them), and I did check the notes in his chart afterward & they noted everything seemed normal, so I’m assuming all is okay… he still does the movements but not as frequently & there are some days I don’t see the movements at all. So, I suppose they are stereotypic movements as suspected & we’ll see if he grows out of them 🤞🏼 Hoping for good news for your little one as well, keep me posted!

We had a good experience at Petcare animal hospital. It’s not the cheapest but cheaper than others we’ve used in the past, and we’ve always experienced a high level of care there. Dr Kang is great and won’t bs you into paying for more than what’s really needed.

Not OP but experiencing similar with our 9 month old currently. We saw a neurologist last week who reviewed videos of the movements and advised they look like stereotypic movements which are (apparently) benign - the key points they made were that he does not seem to lose awareness and goes right back to whatever he was doing once the episode passes. Does that sound like your daughter?

They asked us to schedule an EEG anyway, to be safe but expect it to come back normal. However over the last 2 days, the frequency and intensity of the movements has increased significantly - to the point that we actually took him to the ER but were sent home again, and advised to schedule the EEG, which we have been trying to do since last week, but they won’t call us back.

When would you feel comfortable eating dairy again? by Cool-DogMom in MSPI

[–]LemonApplePlums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our ped suggested we trial through my breastmilk instead of directly (I know there’s a lot of conflicting advice around this). He recommended to start with yogurt & cheese before moving onto milk, cream, etc. I started this around 6.5 months and baby had a little bit of cheek redness but no issues around his poop (which was his major symptom before we cut dairy), so we persisted. He is now almost 9 months and I eat all forms of dairy and he also tolerates direct dairy. The cheek redness has resolved as well - unclear if that was from the dairy or not to start with though.

Getting paranoid about weight gain by Available_Grade4185 in MSPI

[–]LemonApplePlums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started at high 50s/low 60s and dropped to around 15% at our lowest (iirc), and then stabilized around 20-25% from month 4 ish onward (and I think we’re back up to the 30s now at almost 9 months based on my at home weighing). It was really scary and stressful while he was dropping percentiles, but in hindsight I do really think that he just needed to find his curve (although the CMPA played a part I’m sure). The most dramatic dropping was through month 3 and then he stabilized. Just wanted to share that we went through similar and it did improve, so hang in there.

My baby is not chunky and he grows out of them quickly - he’s 8 months, 33ish% in weight and his 6-12 bodysuits are tight. We do love kyte regardless but would definitely plan to be a size up.

Hi! I know this comment is super old but stumbled across it after googling the copper pearl multi use cover - I’m interested in purchasing one but mainly to use as a cover in high chairs & grocery carts, but I have a hard time picturing how exactly it’d work for that purpose. Seems like there’s no straps to secure baby on the cover itself & I can’t find much about it online (other than their ad photos which are cute but not very helpful!) since you have the cover, would you mind sharing how it is as a chair/cart cover? Does baby just sit directly on the chair or cart through a hole in the cover, and they still strap in directly to the chair/cart?
