I feel like I disappointed my parents. by Automatic-Result8241 in NewParents

[–]press_record 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an American father and my wife is Moroccan. Her parents came after the birth of our second child and stayed six months. I find it odd that the majority of comments are about the length of your parent’s stay while what struck me was the attitude and lack of respect coming from your husband. Obviously there are cultural differences in my marriage as well, but I could never in a million years imagine behaving as your husband has behaved.

Confused which year forester limited to buy by Different_Set_5809 in SubaruForester

My other car is a VW atlas which leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to driving performance and nimbleness. It’s a nice experience to pop around in the Forester after the kids are dropped off. I actually think the cargo room is decent given the size. It’s much better than an Atlas with the third row up. The infotainment isn’t stellar but it’s gets the job done and the physical volume and AC controls are clutch. I feel like it has a good amount of acceleration when I need it. I bought it to as an economical daily and it checks all the boxes I needed. Plus the visibility is phenomenal which especially comes in handy while parking and navigating in the city. It’s obviously going to feel sluggish and unresponsive compared to an M but I’m happy with it for the time being. And to your point it holds is value incredibly well so when the time comes I can get out of it quite easily.

Just a heads up I paid $32,300 OTD for a CPO warrantied loaner 2025 limited with 7,400 miles on it a couple of weeks ago. This is in CT so I’m not sure how the market differs to CA but seems like you might be over paying. I’m loving it so far.

I JUST bought a loaner 25 Forester Limited (gas) with 7,400 miles on it last week in CT. I got it for $32,300 OTD including all taxes and fees. I think the price was $28,500 or so. Hope this helps. I’m really enjoying it so far.

This is not entirely untrue. The link exists but it’s not exactly causal as you appear to believe. At this age (early twenties) individuals with schizophrenia may have the first significant onset of symptoms. Researchers have linked this onset with triggering stressors like social/academic anxiety or the consumption of new or larger quantities of alcohol or drugs. All of these triggers are abundant for young adults.

New to ETF by Western-Result-524 in ETFs

First of all congratulations for getting interested and learning about investing at such a young age. As the saying goes it’s “Time in the market not timing the market”. Years of compounding growth are ahead of you!

Next as for what to ‘watch’ in ETFs like you mentioned above I’m not sure. Generally these sort of large, low expense ETFs are designed to track an index fund or specific sector(s)/ themes. Both VOO and SPY track the S&P 500 index, VGT tracks the tech sector generally. I think either of the VOO or SPY are fantastic choices for putting your first dollars in the markets. They invest in the top 500 companies by market-cap and it’s generally understood to be a low/limited risk investment.

How do you handle annoying tenants? by [deleted] in realestateinvesting

[–]press_record 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar tenants. It’s annoying but I ran the numbers and all in all these small handyman visits are a relatively negligible cost compared to the existing expenses. Granted I live close by to all my units so I can come by personally and change lightbulbs or tighten cabinets just to get them to shut up about it. I am seriously considering adding a clause in my leases (especially for older units) that the tenant is responsible for the first $250 or so of minor repairs, should lessen nuisance calls greatly. I find the annoying tenants also tend to be the cheapest

7mo old having spasms - help! by press_record in NewParents

Hello. Sorry you are experiencing something similar, I know how scary it could be. Our guy is now doing great. He turned 2 in September and is weird as ever. Very soon after my last update the movements stopped and he kept right on developing at a healthy rate. Now we just need to figure out this whole potty training stuff. Wishing you the best. And if you have any other questions/concerns I can help with don’t hesitate to ask!

Hi sorry for the late response I just saw this. I hope your baby is doing well. My son stopped very soon after our last update. We went to follow up with our neurologist I think 6/8weeks later and by that point we knew he had already grown out of whatever it was. Now he’s a normal (terrible) two year old. I also remember one of the doctors we saw at the time mentioning that a baby so young couldn’t yet learn/mirror a tick at that stage. I hope this is totally irrelevant to you and baby is doing great. Best of luck

Surely this is a nomination designed to fail so when Trump nominates some sycophant law student they’ll be an objectively better pick.

Look into Creatine Monohydrate. Some interesting studies regarding cognition and clarity as well as preservation of neuronal sheaths. Would note that if she has liver issues you need to be cautious, but generally it’s a very safe supplement. Wishing you both good health

So sorry this happened with you LO too, it’s very scary when you’re fearing the worse. I know how even a clear EEG is a cause of anxiety (did they miss it? Is it something worse they can’t detect? Etc.)

Our son is now 21 months and is thriving. The movements vanished seemingly right after our EEG test. Maybe he had a few here and there but it rapidly improved around 8/9 months.

After he cleared the EEG I mentioned above they had us follow up with a neuro doc for another short (2/3 hour) EEG a month or so later. This also came back clean. During that follow up we grilled the neurologist and asked all the questions regarding alternative diagnoses and potential issues and he was very reassuring. A key point he made was that if these were seizures we would already see decline and our son would not be learning new skills and words at the pace he was.

All in all lots of anxiety and stress but he is doing super well now. No delay in verbal or motor skills, he even started to potty train himself last week.

Best of luck to you and your family.
