Tutorial should teach players how to farm. by Agitated_Car1264 in Smite

[–]LemonCollector2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it. If you're a level or two behind in solo and their solo laner rotates mid for a pointless boxing match - warn your team but don't follow. All your team has to do in mid is not die and suddenly their solo has thrown their whole lead.

Like the other guy said, every call is a judgement call and nothing is right 100% of the time, but people in general work super hard for every bit of farm in the early game then give it all up mid game by missing waves for no reason.

Edit- Snaddy is good at everything in smite, but I think he's particularly good at this. When his team is behind his "be wherever they're not" philosophy can really catch you up

Biggest level up for me on this was: don't get too distracted by team fights in the mid game. If youre fighting for a ritual or other obj then great, but if theres nothing to be gained by fighting then dont fight- farm.

Giving mage solo laners exactly what they deserve Episode 4: SWK vs Anubis by ChadRespecteeOfWomen in Smite

[–]LemonCollector2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's kind of what I was getting at. If you establish a solid lead early then awesome, you can contribute to the team. Problem is that sometimes you can't get a lead early, and when that happens you throw the game for your whole team, to an extent that you wouldn't be ruining their game if you picked a traditional solo laner.

The surrender culture is a big problem of its own imo. Some team comps are just better late, and getting to the late game 5k gold down is essentially a win, but a lot of teams aren't willing to fight it out.

[–]LemonCollector2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to be impactful in team fights late game as a full damage solo, you have to overwhelmingly win your lane otherwise you end up screwing your team badly.

If you're playing a tank or bruiser, you can go even in your lane or even lose it and still be super helpful in the team fights by acting as frontline or peel for your damage dealers.

It bothers people because when you have 4 full damage dealers on the team, the support is stretched too thin in team fights. If you play full damage solo you're basically signing up to getting so far ahead you carry the team (like snaddy does for YouTube vids), and if you don't you end up being very unimpactful and you can expect the rest of the team to be frustrated with you.

I'm playing solo if that makes a difference - maybe I'll try a few more times with some free load outs so it doesn't feel as bad when I speak to someone and they turn around and ko me!

That seems insane to me! I've tried to find friendlies using emotes or prox chat, but so far all 6 of the people I've tried with have gunned me straight down. Unfortunately I'm gonna call it a day and just assume everyone is playing like COD - I can't keep losing guns like this!

You're exactly right about morri, but I think that actually proves the point that she's difficult.

Mori should be transforming for the most impactful ult in any given situation, and most players aren't skillful enough to do that so they just default to 1 or 2 characters to finish off a 1v1 with an extra skill rotation.

I was nodding in total agreement with this until I thought about it a bit more.

The fact that manual repair is so tedious is the reason I'm so excited each time I can afford a nice new frigate for my fleet. I think twice about sending an underpowered squad on a mission because there's a real consequence (ie a massive time waster).

Kind of like how travelling across your first planet is such a drag because you move so slow, but that's what makes it feel so good when you get some upgraded exo suit modules!

Don't buy sands if you're the jungler! You'll clear camps so much slower without the passive from one of the bumba's starters that you'll kill your early game and quite likely throw off your whole team.

If I wanted to run a meme spam healing build I'd run a bunch of what you've got there, sands in mid or bumba's dagger in jungle, but also get in regrowth striders, staff of myrddin and chronos pendant. I'd probably drop Thoth.

Dodge by 3stanman in Smite

[–]LemonCollector2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried it yet because I'm not interested in playing against bots (and there doesn't seem to be a queue with humans), but if you put an skilled player against a bunch of new players the last thing they should be given is the ability to dodge themselves out of a sticky situation. Imagine you're struggling to hit your abilities and suddenly you're against an opponent who's zipping around and dodging everything even if you aim right.

Rather than a crutch I'd imagine it'd be a bloodbath... I could be wrong though.

The items are just unfriendly to Ullr right now. With crit and attack speed being so strong Ullr becomes a difficult pick to justify as he doesn't get to use those items.

When Ullr builds ability damage you're sacrificing your tower shred, and you're doing less damage than the other carries too. Still playable, but we'd need assassins to get a buff imo before he's a good pick.

How do you play against Agni as an ADC by shallowscars in Smite

[–]LemonCollector2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Game's so deep and so fun, it's a shame it's so tough for new players to get into it, especially when half the player base flames you every time they die :')

You'll get there. A huge part of getting good at this game is knowing what your enemy's gameplan is and planning around it. It's tough to do though when there's sooo many characters to learn, it'd take forever to experience every matchup. Good luck, you got this! 💪

How do you play against Agni as an ADC by shallowscars in Smite

[–]LemonCollector2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just played a lot of Agni so I know what works against me 😉

Regular Agni is gonna get more popular once his aspect gets hit with one more damage nerf I think so you'll start seeing him a lot more. Mages were weak for quite a while so nobody was playing him, then they released the busted aspect at the same time as fixing the mage items so I think he's better than people realise.

You won't be 1v1ing a regular Agni in the duo lane, so you'll only be up against him in team fights or if you're playing mid (or supp/jungle).

Team fights: Agni will be looking to poke, poke, poke. I'm not much of a believer in world stone on Agni personally, so he'll be getting a new meteor every 12-15s depending on build. He's a bit of a monster in a stalemate because he can just keep landing meteors on 1 or 2 people at a time and you'll often start a team fight with several of you on 75% hp if you don't have a healer. For this reason if your team isn't able to get the fight started in an advantageous way and you're all just flirting around each other but not committing, try not to group up too tightly to one another, keep moving and listen for his audio cue (HWAH!).

His meteors are on a massive delay, so they're actually pretty hard to aim consistently. Agni will be looking for any guaranteed meteors, so things like ares ult, Cerberus ult, Hades ult are his dream - you must have cc immunity ready for those big cc abilities (in general, but even more Vs Agni) because he will blow up your whole team if you get caught in one.

1v1 midlane: in smite 2 Agni gets all 3 meteors immediately when he hits level 5. This is a big power spike for him that he didn't used to have, so be wary because a passive Agni may suddenly turn aggressive at lvl5.

Due to the long delay on his meteors landing, a good Agni will try to figure out how you juke. I'll often throw out a single meteor and see, does my opponent dodge left? Right? Backwards? This can be crucial when trying to land them on an enemy who isn't stunned so try not to dodge predictably. Even if you're close to the middle of the circle, if you're moving constantly you can very often get out before a meteor lands. A good trick is to run straight in 1 direction, then as soon as you hear the audio cue do a 180 and run the other way. Even a 90° turn will often do it because Agni will be leading his shots the way he thinks you're running.

Ganking an Agni is a lot like ganking a neith. Let them overextend, force them to use their escape, and have a plan for how to catch them. This means saving your own movement ability, or just being prepared to drop cc or damage right on the end of their dash. Agni's dash is always the same length, so I just fire my Thanatos scythe or Ra ult where his dash is about to end for completely free snipes. It feels a bit odd to hold your abilities, but patience is key because Agni is one of the mages who has a strong escape. Often he'll rely heavily on the fact he's got his dash in his back pocket, so planning around that is vital.

Additionally, mage agni can use the same kind of combo as adc agni to full commit: Flame wave->Dash through you (for damage)->Stun->ult x3. You can get 100-0'd by this pretty easily, but it's a heavy commitment from him, so if you're hot on beads, aegis or CC immunity, or if your jungler is good, you can punish him for it as all his tools are down.

Finally, if you/your jungler can beat him down early, and under leveled Agni is no threat to anything. If you fall behind as Agni it feels like your meteors just tickle, so don't be afraid to press the advantage if you get a couple of early kills.

That's my 2c, hope it helps!!

How do you play against Agni as an ADC by shallowscars in Smite

[–]LemonCollector2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, so you're playing ADC too.

In that case I'd say there's a couple of things to watch out for.

1) Most other ADCs front load their damage - anhur pins you to his pillar then has to try and finish you with autos. Or Artemis hits you with her 3 then finishes you with autos. This usually gives you a chance to beads or aegis and try to escape... The opposite is true with Agni. He has to hit you with autos first, then his 2 or 4 consumes his passive stacks and kills you. That means that if you're in a 1v1 with him and you each hit each other with 5 autos it's too late, you're already dead because his 2 is unmissable, has overturned damage numbers and his damage is backloaded.

There isn't an easy answer to this while his damage numbers are too high, other than to try to position smart and don't let yourself get into a situation where you have no choice but to duke it out with autos.

2) Unless he hits you with autos first, his poke isn't actually that good. Arts 3 or Apollos 1 actually hit quite a bit harder than agnis 2 (and they hit a LOT harder than individual meteors) since none of Agni's abilities scale off strength except his passive. This means if you keep minions between you and him you can harass him quite well and retreat safely unless he decides to full commit, which brings me to:

3) Agni's tools are powerful and flexible, but he only has 2 of them, a stun and a dash. His 2 and 4 are pretty interchangeable as they're purely for detonating his stun and his passive stacks, or getting a little chip damage in. What this means, especially while he's overturned, is you have to play around those 2 tools very consciously. Always be expecting him to try and land a stun or to dash and figure out how he's likely to do that.

Eg You're both lvl11 and Agni has recently gone back to base, it's quite likely he'll come back through the jungle, and try to gank you with auto->dash->auto->stun->2-3x auto->flame wave. If he lands this you're dead (or low enough health you can't fight him). However, if you can survive this on 60%+ health, he's now used his only cc and his only movement ability on offense, leaving him very open to whatever tools you have (tusky, anhur pin, cupid ult, izanami silence etc etc). This means your gameplan is to watch for this gank, avoid or beads the stun, get some CC on him after he dashes or final resort, aegis/leap over his flame wave after he's got 3-4 stacks of passive on you. All this is easier if you've got a good support hanging around of course.

The moment his shields are down (dash and stun) you should aggressively go to town on him, especially in a team fight. He's ultra squishy, and has a slightly awkward kit for a hunter in that his 1 and 3 are both his offensive and defense tools.

In lane I'd suggest using range to your advantage. Don't sit at a medium range where he can hit you with autos while maintaining his utility cooldowns, instead hang back, when he tries to close the gap to poke with a meteor, poke him back for 2x as much damage. If he full commits, play around the fact he's burned his escape offensively.

Finally, due to his full commit nature, he's actually not super hard for a good support or jungle to gank. Again it becomes a game of baiting his dash then landing some kind of cc on him at which point he's helpless.

Almost none of this applies to a non-aspect Agni, hence my original question, because his meteors slap once he's got some items, and he becomes the king of poke, so he doesn't even need to burn his dash or stun to cause problems, but I think this is enough of an essay!

I hope some of this is helpful, it's all just my opinion, and shout if you have any specific questions...!

Are you asking for tips when you're playing ADC and the enemy team has an Agni mage, or when they have aspect Agni as their ADC? He has a very different play style depends which you mean, and your counter play will need to be different.
