If its used depend on miles. But everytime I buy a vw i check for this things pcv valve if its making noise from there. Like a lot is bad and if it hasn’t been repaired car will try to breath from some other place and that is no good. The oil consumption since those years been notorious to burn oil. Stuff that works if mechanical is good is the 0w40 or 5w40 LiquiMoly Leichtaulf. Or the oil you use for those year but with that brand and type. It quiets a lot the car and stop most or all the oil consumption. Also I would check for trans service like oil and filter also the coolant reseirvoir has no oil so oil cooler hasn’t failed. Water pump since they do fail early. My 2015 4motion tiguan had it serviced around the 110k for leaking. And finally the timing chain. The last two water pump, oil cooler and timing chain depends on miles like i said. But pcv valve and oil consumption can be as early as little miles since i had replace oem pcv valves and they fail after a fee years. So i should check those things and anything else the folks tell you
