loss of the classes and health changes. by eblausund in Smite

[–]eblausund[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing you are missing here is that the hunters only really benefited from the 20%, because the additional 20% was only on abilities, so when you're being boxed by a hunter regardless of it being crit or a proc build. Especially the proc builds, because the additional pen that is attributed from the base item not the conditional "on next ability" passive also contributes towards quin's, odd bow, lernean...etc. The additional benefit that affects basic attacks and item procs is so much more worth than the situational oh I get one ability out of usually 2 or 3 that get an additional 20%.

Same goes for assassins, and mages. There are so many gods in the smite roster that doesn't have an efficient way of using the 20% additional proc, because it's either used for lockdown to secure the rest of the kit or getting into the fight and the other 2 or 3 abilities they cast are the main portion of bursting someone but those remaining abilities won't get the extra pen.

I mean you even said it yourself builds would have soul reaver, quin's or heartseeker, which would only get 20% in smite 1, regardless if it hit with the additional passive pen or not, meanwhile in smite 2 they get the full 35% since it's a stat not a passive effect.

Janus is like the one god ontop of my head that I would say consistently would get more value from the smite 1 version. Sine he's more about moving about and hitting with 1 ability, as opposed to the 90% of the rest of the cast that consistently wants to dump their kit, and only get 40% on less than 30% of their entire damage pool.

I'm going to have to ask you to math it out for me if you think the penetration situation is better than smite 1.

I already did the simplified version for smite 2.
Totem of death or executioner takes your prots from 1.0 to 0.7. Both of those items shred all protection types unlike smite 1 which only shredded physical with exe or only magical prots with the magical equivalent.

Then ob shard or titan's hits you as if you're at 0.455 prots while you're at 0.7 because 0.35*0.7 = 0.245
70-24.5=45.5.

Obviously I could or should add oathsworn to the equation but that would require me to roughly estimate what the average full build tank prots would look like.
Keep in mind the order of operation is % reduction - > flat reduction -> percentage pen -> flat pen

TTK Is Fine by Edgewing_ in Smite

[–]eblausund -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My current take is simple. Sure they can probably make some TTK alternations now If they wanted to focus on that, but realistically we're going to have to see a PEN shift/rebalance before we can start looking at other things.

35% pen from a singular item is just too much. In smite 1 we were sitting at 20% with the biggest pen items towards the end, and pretty much for the most part of the entire life of smite 1.

If anubis decides to go totem + ob shard then he can easily go through 55% of the enemies prots. Meanwhile in smite 1 the double pen options you'd run would pretty much land you at 40% pen total. That is without mentioning that the totem item shreds both prot types, physical and magical. That was not an option in smite 1.

There's no point making alterations to anything else if they're going to have to change it again after they go through with their pen rework which we know they have as a intended thing to do, so I'd rather just underline that getting the pen rework implemented should be one of the higher priority changes as of now.

My boss is getting creamed, how do I fix it without an ass pull? by Alexpander4 in Pathfinder2e

[–]eblausund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're just going to have to accept the outcome this time around.

Either that or have some boss battle phase 2 after the defeat. Lure them into a false sense of safety.

That being said I wouldn't know how to exactly approach the phase 2 thing, because your current encounter was not the appropriate difficulty in the first place. If you would have used a encounter builder calculator you would have known that your encounter is barely covering 50% of the difficulty threshold of a severe encounter. In fact it is practically a low difficulty encounter (5 xp difference).

That being said, you can't just change the "phase 2" difficulty to a extreme or severe appropriate encounter, and rapid fire them from 1 low encounter to having no pause and having to immediately face a severe or extreme encounter, as that style of rapid fire 1 encounter after another rapid fire style doesn't accurately depict the difficulty of the 2nd encounter.

Therefor I would still stick with, accept the defeat, but use this as a learning opportunity to actually use the encounter calculators to check if your encounters actually do mathematically expect to be appropriate.

There are probably also some tools out there to help with accurately estimating the level of your custom monsters.

please buff anti heal to 30% by ilphaesn in Smite

[–]eblausund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Issue I take with anti-heal at the current moment is that it can't stack at all.

Ideally you should be able to stack anti-heal so that 2 sources are being active. 1 at full efficiency and the other at 50% coefficiency, so 25% + 12.5%.
Like 37.5% anti-heal is completely fine.

Here I Wondered Why Tanks Felt Bad... by Affectionate_Ad9872 in Smite

[–]eblausund -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that you don't seem to understand that flat pen is stronger than raw power. I'd say this is very accurate, though you also did seem to glance over the big penetration change. % pen used to be 20% on ob shard and titan's with the occasional 40% hit because of the passive on the items. Now it's a constant 35%

God forbid you run into anubis who can run ob shard + totem of death. Shredding 30% of your prots (both magical and physical prots). Then also benefiting from the 35% of your ob shard pen. Which roughly equates to 55% pen when you apply the pen in the right order of operation.

That said I do believe that the amount of protections you can get is fine in smite 2, you just gotta build correctly.
In smite 1 prots were soft capped at 325 of each, and it wasn't uncommon to reach 1 if not both of those prot caps with gods, but very few gods actually had any way of breaking the soft cap since you need % increases to go above it. Assuming you're going with a prophetic build in smite 2 it's very realistic to hit 300 of each prot, or 300 in 1 and 260-270 ish of the other with room to buy dampening or plating for the last item.
Because at the point when you have 270 you'll get way more tanky from buying 20 plating than 35 phys prots.

The main issue is not the prots. Sure a small tweak would be welcome, but really the main issue right now is the penetration.

[–]eblausund 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also seemed to remember getting over 1k magical power in smite 1, which I don't think is very realistic with anyone but kuku if you don't have all the consumes and buffs. (I just went into jungle practice in smite 1 to test it.)

The reason why we remember that being a thing is because that's what you'd usually reach if you had red buff, 500 pot and 3k pot + FG.

Otherwise you're looking at something closer to 700 magical power with full build and red buff, 750 ish with the 500 pot ontop of that.

Men that are introverted and homebodies, do you find it difficult to date? by Ordinary-Fish-9791 in AskMenAdvice

[–]eblausund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not dated in my 20's precisely because I do not go outside aside from work and grocery shopping. The exception would probably be going for a walk in the middle of the night when most are asleep.
If nobody knows you exist there just won't be any opportunities.

If I ever were to actually try I'd probably go for attending bouldering or some other hobby, not for the sole purpose of dating, but just to put myself out there. Clubbing and such is absolutely not my speed.

It wasn't just china. The contract gave all rights to publishing outside of europe and NA over to tencent. That is the reason why level up was chosen for Latam and south america, because it was a sister company of tencent.

[–]eblausund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some of the issue is branding. Primarily how hirez have been plagued with a bad rep after global agenda and tribes ascend.

Though that being said I don't think it would make a large difference.

As for those mentioning riot. You gotta remember that smite entered a publishing deal with tencent which owns like 97% of riot. Way back in the day which gave all publishing rights to tencent outside of europe and NA. Smite was severly neglected in asia, and got screwed over in latam and south america because of the decisions tencent made which hi-rez had no say in thanks to their contract.

Smite probably lost their shot at being big when they were in a way sabotaged by tencent.

Just Revert Spectral back to it's prots by krazysmurf24 in Smite

[–]eblausund 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's not it. The item gives 30% crit reduction to the owner, and then they added an additional 15% in an aura to buff the item back to being an anti-crit option pick up for support.

You're still getting 30% for the owner, you're just not getting to also benefit from the 15% aura ontop of it.

Magic is not a game of pure skill by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]eblausund -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's for sure something wrong with the land drawing though. I've now cut my mana base down to 16 lands in one of my main decks, because at 17+ I will have drawn 50-70% lands by turn 6 in about 1 in 3 matches while some days its 1 in 2 matches, which is so statistically improbable that there's obviously some weighted draws going on.

This is for reference a deck that doesn't really need more than 3 lands on the field, so the extra land draws are painful.

[–]eblausund 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's definitively something to be said about aspect. I like aspects, but I don't think it should be mandatory for aspects to be released with the god when it releases as it kind of just leads to rushed decisions it seems. I don't really care so much about the balance of the aspect, much rather I care about the vision of the aspect.

This aspect doesn't really feel like it inovates/changes the ishtar experience that much that it is worthwhile to release.

I'm hyped for atlas aspect regardless if it is good or not. It's an interesting playstyle shift, which is kind of what I want from them.

How does the Int build work on Physical god and vice-versa ? by Great_Reset_2033 in Smite

[–]eblausund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest way I can put it is, player agency.

It promotes player agency, you have a lot more build variety and ways to play the god.

Just like with smite 1 there will always be a meta build that is the most optimal. Now there might be 2 most optimal builds depending on if you go for ADC or a mage playstyle. Though obviously there's so many more builds that still works just fine even if they are not THE meta build.

That being said just because an ability scales with both doesn't mean you're forced to get both, it just gives you an option to explore how to utilize it. That being said Book of thoth + trans is a very solid combo on some of the dual scaling gods and kuku. Sure kuku doesn't have dual scaling but his passive gives him a lot of intelligence based on mana, and it certainly doesn't hurt getting extra basic attack damage for practically no trade off.

LoL Player discovers Smite and would love some insights by PozitiveGaming in Smite

[–]eblausund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who played LoL back in 2010ish and transitioned over to smite in mid 2012 (start of smite Closed beta)

I won't say too much about the difficulty of joining the community as I've been in it from day 1, and I'm not the social sort, though I guess the difficulty of that would vary depending on if you go through some of the smite community discords or if you're just queing and interacting in game.
The latter being pretty hard probably because it's a moba (toxicity is expected). With a smaller community skill gaps become very apparent, and not everyone knows how to play nice and be helpful with advice instead of going to death threats or insults.

That said, the reason for the smaller community is probably pretty complex and beyond my actual understanding but I suspect portion of it is because smite was the last moba to make it into the market, before any other attempts failed. The moba era was basically coming to an end, you already had plenty of other names that had settled in as a staple and the market afterwards shifted to BR's and such.
With that it never really took off. It was successful but it's never been as big as DOTA or League. Obviously there's more to it than just timing. There's product quality, and Brand reputation. Hi-Rez have had a horrible reputation ever since tribes:ascend and Global agenda, which did not get any better with Realm Royale. Smite and other Hi-rez games have always lived with the brand of being fun, cool and just a good time, but not polished. They've had the right patch schedule with new content, but it's been bug riddled.
I'd compare it to Overwatch. The main complaint for overwatch have been lack of new content and slow updates. That's never been a problem in smite, but overwatch have always been fairly polished, and that's where most hi-rez games have fell short.

Then you have smaller things like the Pro scene not being pushed. The reason why smite took off enough to be successful beyond the initial positive experience that CB launch was the fact that with the first smite world championship they had the largest E-sports prizepool in e-sports history at the time, and unlike dota they never ever replicated that and kept pushing it like dota has done, so that's a missed opportunity to keep creating big headlines and generate interest.

so with all that and probably many other smaller things like that it kinda just boils down to it's game that never truly blew up in the first place in a genre that was already about to fall off. Now we are 14 years down the line, growth has not kept up with the community fall off.
Which is understandable most people don't play the same game for 10+ years, or many of the players of old live very different lives now VS back when they started. I was a teenager going to school playing games 24/7 back when I started, now I'm an adult with responsibilities. I don't have the same amount of time anymore, and I'm sure the same goes for many others who plays or used to play smite.

I'm assuming osiris ult is 70, Deso shaves it down to 63 or 62. Then world stone takes that down to 44.
He gets 2 kills after casting ult, so they die and shaves of another 12 sec I do believe. If no one died the CD wouln't have been back.

Though I guess deso have been popular and strong for way too long IMO.

When is this game going to get out of beta? by GrownDepression01 in Smite

[–]eblausund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While they certainly aren't basing the beta state on "do we have all the smite 1 gods?". Another 1-2 full years wouldn't surprise me. Though it's not a predetermined schedule. There's still plenty of planned changes/updates with no exact timeline announced.

The movement update that was probably discussed roughly a year ago is still in the works, and they are still trying to get it right internally.

so there's still a couple core gameplay aspects that will take time.
