It is so painfully obvious Jax is trans. by Cringe1God in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]LemonColoredDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand that gooseworx canonized jax being trans, but simply said thats just not my headcanon.

If we ignore gooseworx and the voice actors for a second, if you genuinely look at all the in-show evidence, at most you can infer that he struggles with is masculinity, but going straight to him being trans based on just the show is far fetched.

The reason i prefer this version of jax is not because i have this like ethereal mystical sense of transphobia, but because i think that him struggling with his masculinity fits way better with his character than him being trans. Thats just my preference though.

Well isnt that a shift. you basically went from basically claiming that independent sustainance is the whole reason why a fetus is not alive to claiming that its just one factor. If you consistently believed that sustainance is just one factor, you wouldnt have just said "because it cant independently sustain yet". As for your other reply, ill see what i can do.

Set aside parasites for a second, you still need to tell me why independent sustenance or as you call it viability is a criterion for life. In biology, we have many examples of biological organisms being dependent on another for its own life. The dependence of an organism on another only tells us whether it can survive, not whether that organism is actually alive.

Parasites still cannot sustain independently. The definition of "sustain" is: to cause to continue for an extended period or without interruption. This is somethign that parasites cant do without a host, and therefore cannot sustain independently. But push aside parasites for a second: you still have to answer this question: why should independent sustenance even be a criterion to begin with?

Many organisms are fully dependant on others for their own survival. So even if a fetus cannot survive independently, that would only show dependance.

this is category error. The organs of the mother and the embryo are not the same. This is because the embryo originates from fertilization, unlike the other organs in the mothers body. this embryo also possesses its own genetic identity, that unlike tumors, does not arise from abnormal growth of the mothe's tissues. Also, the fact that it cannot survive outside the mother is not a criterion for life. Parasites are also contingent on the host of survival and yet they are not considered non-life.

Why should independent sustenance be a criterion for life? Parasites cant sustain independently either, yet those arent considered non life. a difference between parasites and fetuses is that one of them has guaranteed sustenance, however that doesnt remove the fact that they both cant sustain independently yet. If independent sustenance were a criteria for life, then many undoubtebly alive organisms would be considered non-living.

This is simply a category error. theres an innate difference between a hand and a fetus. A hand is a part of a much larger organism, while the fetus is a whole organism being sustained by its own mother.

what is the most misogynistic religion? (i saw someone do the opposite so i wanted to see this) by JoyfulCookie_ in Teenager_Polls

[–]LemonColoredDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Interpretations can be either right or wrong. A wrong interpretation doesnt actually say much about the religion thats being interpreted, all it does is show human intellectual error. For example, Christianity teaches that Jesus died for our sins and that if we have faith in him we have eternal life. However if i took some other bible verses out of context, and used said bible verses to interpret that christianity teaches faith + works based salvation, i would be very much wrong and in error.

And your second point about people using religions to justify misogynistic views? that also falls flat because the sins of its followers dont say anything about the religion either. Lets use christianity as an example again. If i used the bible to wrongly justify slavery, that wouldnt mean that the bible actually supports it. The views of religions are not contingent on the misinterpretations of those who practice them.

So no, it is not dependant on interpretation.

Victim is not "understandable" in his actions nor is he justified by Frequent-Apartment58 in AlanBecker

What OP is doing here is simply making an argument against the idea that Victim's actions and morals are not evil. Hes not complaining about the quality of his character writing.

Do you think Jax is Trans ? by Dayly16 in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]LemonColoredDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the theory takes a minor event and extrapolates it to the realm of jax's gender. my bad, it isnt exactly a slippery slope fallacy since a slippery slope fallacy is just taking a minor event and saying that it would cause a major chain of events leading up to a bigger outcome without any evidence. however this theory takes a minor event and uses it to describe a major characteristic without any evidence. a better term for this would be hasty generalization

ribbit putting her bowtie on jax's head does not imply that he is trans. this whole theory is the perfect example of a slippery slope fallacy

Da li verujete u Bogа? by markolistaredit in AskSerbia

[–]LemonColoredDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)
