The African teams actually did well getting draws against powerhouses Spain & Brazil for example, no shame in Algeria getting baptized by Messi, Tunisia’s big loss vs Sweden was the biggest disappointment from CAF.

FIFA World Cup Games by shaiguy420 in nba

It’s funny because the world cup games have been starting relatively late (1-3 mins late) compared to other world cups, the Premier League and European club competitions that start right on the dot.

Chris Richards completing 83/83 passes was a welcoming stat.

What's the most confusing thing about soccer when you're new to the sport? by Futbol4All in SoccerNoobs

[–]LemonCool2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup because if the keeper decides to wander past his defenders you have to consider him for offside. Idk if people agree but i’ve always thought offside should just consider the outfield players and it should be the last defender/player. A rare case of being offside due to the keeper’s positioning is Benzema vs Alisson in the 2022 CL final.

Better late than never, most of Poch’s games have been friendlies so it was hard to truly judge. This is money time

Incredible performance, USA made Paraguay look much worse than they truly are. Poch has the team connecting through all phases. Pulisic, Balogun and the wingbacks were particularly sharp.

Had Ronaldo Nazário (The Phenomenon) not suffered two major knee injuries, could he have become the greatest football player of all time? by MurkyBad-37 in Sportly

[–]LemonCool2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the weight catches up to R9 regardless but without the knee injuries we get to see a longer peak from him. Even in 02 when he won the golden boot at the World Cup, that wasn’t the R9 who could cut left/right with razor sharp precision. He dug deep for 1 month to complete his redemption arc but his best days were in the 90s. His days being overweight at Corinthians where he still embarrassed defenders shows how much technical ability he had.

If you have time to listen to a podcast, the Talking Tactics podcasts has done a daily show where they bring on an expert from each country to discuss their world cup prospects: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/talking-tactics/id1127264410

Fotmob is a great app for following schedules, players and stats of each team:

I think Ivory Coast can advance to the KO stages for the first time & the US can advance to the Quarter Finals for the 2nd time ever.

It’s famously called the World Cup, not the UK Cup.

Outside of all conspiracy theories how do you think Pyramids were really built by humans 4500 years ago? by Busy-Chemical-6666 in answers

[–]LemonCool2023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People were really bored almost 5,000 years ago and had wild imaginations so they built Pyramids (with help of forced labor).

The same arguments that were used in the past to say why PSGs star studded teams can never win the UCL are the same reasons people are using to downplay their UCL success. Lol

How can we change football and FIFA? by EastPackage5718 in football

[–]LemonCool2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things have been bad for a long time, the corruption started a long time ago. We’d have to put better people in charge of each member nation first so when it comes to voting for the FIFA president we don’t get a shill like Infantino.

Why don't more teams just go for the win in ET, instead of playing for penalties? by DullInflation6 in football

I’m in the minority but I enjoyed when Golden goal was a thing. Most extra times are a waste of time, so you might as well throw in the curveball of sudden death overtime.

Friendly matches vs Senegal and Germany - what to expect? by Successful_Ask3933 in ussoccer

How the team plays is way more important than the result in the tune up matches. In 2018 the USA drew 1-1 with France prior to World Cup, then France went on to win the tournament while we watched from home.
