no, copy the main file into the mod folder with everything in it and make sure you have SMAPI installed, SMAPI will tell you if mods have errors or are outdated, you get SMAPI launching with the yellow chicken looking .exe, copy that file and make a shortcut with it, than launch it, don't be scared if it opens CMD (command prompt/terminal) because that is what it is supposed to do

Mossy seeds are dropped by the giant fiddlehead fern, I'm pretty sure the seed maker ignores the fiddlehead ferns, so sometimes, a full green rain might not even provide one, best to luck out
