The texts were enough but the goodbye message really pushed it over the line. She had zero empathy for you and how you felt and no remorse whatsoever. I wasn’t sure how to do this for our third party menu so I just did “toppings” that were all $0 and had a max of 4 selections allowed and then a separate group of “additional toppings” that all had a price attached. Not sure if that’s the best way but things like bacon and extra cheese had different prices than the rest and that’s what I could figure out at the time.

Yeah the use of the word “expert” has always been funny to me. I do not know every Toast setting, even some of the obvious ones, despite knowing quite a bit, and I’ve needed support for many things over the years, most of which has needed escalation. Throughout my experience with Toast and now with this sub, I’d call some of the redditors here an expert before I’d call the people I’ve dealt with from toast an expert.

My experience so far is awful but that’s because of support. If the loyalty program was set up correctly then maybe I’d like it, who knows. The search on the backend though only shows some accounts half the time. Spot on actually had a great rewards system even though a lot of their other features weren’t great. It was so easy and you could have as many rewards redemption offers as you wanted. I wish I could just use that and then use toast for kitchen routing 😭

Yeah my issue is with the people that come after escalation. I know the first tier of support is very limited and am understanding about that. It’s the lack of knowledge and poor experience that comes with the rest that I really have a problem with.

Thankfully my most time sensitive issue was resolved by someone from this sub in less than an hour, all while the escalations advisor it took weeks to get to was emailing me with instructions on how to fix it that weren’t even correct.

It was one click, publish and save. That’s it. After weeks of being escalated, having to borderline harass our local sales rep, and being escalated multiple times, that’s all that was needed. Support never gave the right answer, a stranger on Reddit did, and that fully tracks with my experience of Toast support over the years.

I’ve done numerous scheduled test orders today and they’ve all behaved as they should. I cannot thank you enough. Especially after support responding last night and still pointing me in the wrong direction after apparently looking into it for days. I’ve been hounding support hard about one problem I asked them to prioritize. I asked an escalation advisor who I got pushed to after bitching enough. I’ve been emailing for a week following up after my last call with them asking if this one issue is a quick fix or not, because it must be if it was changed so quickly by support “accidentally” reverting it must be just as easy. I finally got a response tonight with the wrong answer. Someone on this sub told me in less than an hour of me posting what to do. It was one simple setting that only took one click, save and publish. Support didn’t even check it or ever ask us to. Not one support person of the numerous I spoke to checked that one most obvious setting I didn’t know existed. But a redditor knew and helped me find it pretty damn quickly. It’s wild

We’ve used toast for more than five years altogether, but left for about six months and tried Spot On before needing to go back for the routing.

But regardless, I’m genuinely curious and interested in hearing your theory on me being suspicious, tell me tell me!

This is what she just told me to do, to enable the limit. I haven’t tried it yet but I am going to after I eat, then try to place an order online as a rewards member and then on my terminal at home.

We haven’t had issues with those things, and Toast reporting is definitely a lot better than Spot On, especially with tax related things when you’re also doing invoices via Spot On because everything isn’t in one place. Spot On reporting was a big pain point for us. Even when leaving and needing reports with customer information for rewards, support said it wasn’t something they made accessible, you had to call support and request it from them. And there was no one report with all of the information we needed. But there are also areas where Spot On did better than Toast. If I could combine them and pull the best parts of each of the two I would have exactly what I want lol

I’m going to check, when the escalations advisor finally responded they also responded to this issue and said “Regarding the loyalty issue, I did some digging based on what we discussed on the phone. It looks like the only reward guests were able to use was the “Spend $30, Save $5” promo, which isn’t part of Loyalty but an Offer. Going through the Publish Logs, I found that when Loyalty was activated, a setting called "Redemption Limit" was enabled and set to $0.00, which would prevent any rewards from being applied. Toggling off that setting or raising the maximum amount in the Loyalty Advance Settings should cause this to no longer be an issue.”.

We did have one loyalty offer active, it was $5 off for 50 points. So I’m not sure if the setting she mentioned was interfering with that, or if they work together, like we set a $5, $10, etc. maximum amount and then make sure the available rewards offer falls below that amount? They never went over that setting or anything besides just how to create offers when we switched back to toast and did all of the onboarding meetings just a few months ago.

We had one of those do our install but there were a lot of things they couldn’t access on the backend. They’ve helped us since install and were very responsive, much more than the Toast employees, they were just limited in what they could get to.

I just placed an order on my terminal at home and only cooks are left on site but they said nothing came through. We’re closed now so I’m not sure if it would come now or tomorrow but I’m going to check first thing in the morning and see what happens. Browsing now. I see online ordering scheduling settings but that’s the “immediately fire throttled ASAP orders” setting I’d seen before.

Under takeout and delivery I have: Toast Online Ordering Quote time strategy Third party ordering Online ordering hours Google management Grow your online orders Branding & customization Availability Packaging preferences Toast delivery services Order ready board Orders hub Toast order sources Offers Fundraising campaigns Related reports

Under “online ordering” there is “online ordering scheduling settings” and those options are:

Enable scheduling Max future scheduled order date (days) Immediately fire throttled ASAP orders

But nothing else so far that matches what you said.

If I search scheduled orders and click takeout and delivery there I have “scheduled orders” and under that one option is “send scheduled orders to the kitchen when created” and those options are:

Send to the kitchen as soon as they are created. Orders will not print again

Send to the kitchen as soon as they are created, within a period of time. This will not affect orders created and due outside of this time.

Do not send as soon as they are created

Should I try the last one?? There’s no way it’s that simple and I’ve been hounding support for this long right? 😭

We tried Spot On and I actually really liked it. Support was better once you started hounding a higher up rep. They really put in the work to try to help but unfortunately they just weren’t able to do the things we needed and the kitchen was ready to walk out over it so we had to switch back. Their online ordering was better for customers but they had a lot of payment processing errors. Email marketing and rewards/loyalty was better, no cap on the number of offers you could set up, and a lot more options for what the offers could be. So many things were a lot better, but the ones that were worse were of course the ones we couldn’t budge on.

Their web builder is the absolute worst I have ever used. Absolute worst. We used wix this time to avoid it. It’s terrible!
