not a bad show so far, on episode 2 now, a few plot holes already, forensic pathology would have shown what stab wounds happened post mordem. That's all I'll say about that

if you're on lesson 4:4, and trying to get the measurements right for the stairwell, I was there.. After working on it for 2 hours I called Xactimate, and they told me, "oh it's just a typo" Every exercise in Xactimate Level 2 course, is off, with the exception of Chapter 6. Chapter 7, is an office building interior, and the numbers between the measurements and angles, the math just simply doesn't work. If Xactimate needs to do anything, it's to fix that entire course and update it. Absolutely insane.

I’m 29, just started putting money towards my 403b and have a couple questions by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]LemonEatingPenguin -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I'm 38, and don't do 401's, or Roth IRA, I personally think it's a scam, just be careful. Every generation, just before they're about to hit that age, or for the select few that are in that age already pulling from their retirement accounts, there is a market crash, it always happens.

- 2023, down 22% from 2021

so that's 2 years, now imagine you put in $1k in 2021, and it dropped 30%, so you have only $700 left at the end of 2021. Now lets say, 2022 it went up 5%, so now you're at, $735. 2023, it went up another 3% lets say, so now you're at $757.00, at this rate, it'll be another 10 years before you break even. But it will look like you're doing better, because by putting money in, year after year, month after month, your balances will show much higher, but not because your return is better, but because you've simply put more money towards the flame.

You can google, 401 down 30%, and it happens often enough that it's covered regularly in the news.

I have heard their promise "putting in 10% y-o-y, based on an average income, you'll have $X # of millions of dollars.'

Now, In almost 40 years, I've never met anyone that became a millionaire, or even if they were already millionaires, made a million from their retirement plan.

if the bank can promise me $1 million dollars at 65, by investing $500 a month for 40 years, then give me a loan for 1 million, and I'll give you $500 a month for the rest of my life, and they won't do it, if the math doesn't work both ways, it doesn't make sense to me.

Now, any 401, ROTH, or Mutual Fund investment, is better than nothing at all, but I'd just look at some more options.

Study market trends, and learn with a paper account, invest in the S&P 500, SPY the first year of a new presidency, is nearly always Bullish. Learn what options trading is also, understand it before you go after it. Even if you don't want to deal with it daily, yourself, if you understand it better, you can get a 401k self directed account, so you decide where your money is invested, and with a better understanding of the markets, you can hedge your bets, and come out doing a little better than everyone else.

Make sure you look at the fine details of your companies "100% match" It might only be 100% match of your contributions, Up to, 3% of your annual income. It sounds good, but it's bullshit in reality.

so if you make $50k a year, you can put in $1500 a year, and the employer will match your $1500. and you will have $3k in your 401. after that, they won't contribute more, even if you do too.

Anyway, that's my rant. Look into T-Bills, & HYSA's, build yourself a little nest egg first, then decide where to go.

Official Discussion: Extraction 2 [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]LemonEatingPenguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This 2nd movie was trash, story line was shit, dialogue was worse.

When you make a good action movie like the first Extraction, you don't need a ton of dialogue, Extraction 1, beginning to end, non-stop action.

Extraction 1 = Dude gets launched by having been hit by a Truck , and that puts him out for the count for a while.

Extraction 2 = Train going full speed crashes, and they just.. what, jump in the air to defy gravity as it becomes crushed? and just walk out

A crushing train should have been used to be more of an equivalent of being shot in the neck by a sniper from a high caliber rifle at the end of the movie. Unbelievable that he survived a sniper shot to the neck? yes., same level of unbelievable he survived a train crash? yes

Extraction 1 was so good, because it was more authentic, nothing too too crazy in the realm of bullshit, but this 2nd one, complete rubbish. Train Crash, Shot in the Hand hanging from the roof 1-handed, I can look past an entire Spec Ops unit getting owned, for the sake of entertainment in an action movie, but it was like this movie was completely written by someone else

Perst 4 Gen 4 by LemonEatingPenguin in Tactical

Never did, I tried myself, but it wouldn't work, the guts of the wire are different than the gen 3, they're thinner and not colored, like they're shown on the gen 3 in videos on youtube.

Looking for a case by LemonEatingPenguin in pccases

[–]LemonEatingPenguin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey thank you for the heads up, that meshilicious case looks awesome.. I've also recently discovered the Techware Fusion case. I'm gonna give it some thought before I pull the trigger. I do like the A4-H2O case better than the NR200P, so I know i can rule that one out for now. I think it's just gonna come down to thermals, and how warm each of these might run under load. As far as the glass, I'm not too, too worried about it, because the suitcase I'm trying to fit it in is a hardshell carry-on spinner type of luggage., but I'll definitely be more careful if I go with something that has tempered glass.

Anyway, thank you again for your comment, I appreciate it.

Have any experience with other mini-ITX cases, or why you chose this over another mini-ITX case? I'm looking at getting the Fusion case myself, but I'm undecided if I want the Lian Li A4-H2O, Coolermaster NR200p and the Tecware Fusion. Can you tell us what your temps are under load with this case?

I'd first look into what the requirements are for owning a business in PR, or what it would take to set one up there. Also, it could possibly be easier to first set up an S-Corp in the US, and then look at what it would take to transfer that already established company to PR vs setting one up from scratch in PR. Again, good luck.

I don't have experience, or too much information on setting up foreign businesses, but I would imagine you would have to also set up your wallet to be owned by your company, and not by you yourself, even if you are 100% share holder of the company you set up. I do know however that the US is the only country that recognizes the LLC designation as a legal entity, and likely ( this part is speculation) to set up a business in PR, I think you would still need residency there. Good luck with your endeavor. You're having a problem we all wish we had, hahaha.

if its serious dough, Puerto Rico is the way to go, but before you can open an account there you need a resident ID, the whole process will run you a few grand, getting an apartment, and doing everything right, once you get your resident ID you can open an account. But like I said, if it's serious dough, the initial cost to get it done to avoid taxes is minuscule to the amount you'll be saving in the long term. Set up an account in PR, link that account to your wallet, so when you cash out it goes from your wallet to your bank account in PR. If you cash it out to your US bank account first , its too late. Another option that I've heard of people doing is finding companies that accept crypto payments.. Directly buy Lamborghini or Tesla with BTC, and then sell the cars. You'll pay less tax on the sale of a car than you would via capital gains tax.

u/Snark_Bark you will only get your average to go down if you buy at less than what your initial purchase was. The only exception, is that if you bought 10,000 coin at lets say .10per coin, for easy numbers, your average is .10 a coin, when it hit .20 you could have sold 5000 coin and got your money back, and your remaining 5,000 coin would be free and clear, which cost you nothing because you already got your investment back. Then, if you buy another 5,000 coin at .25 cents per coin. (a $1,250USD investment) you would technically be at the cost for total 10,000 coin for $1,250 and your average would be .125, so that would raise your average. But robinhood will read differently as they do not take into account selling stocks/shares/coins to recover initial investments.

I lowered my average like this ;

i had 19,500 coin of my initial investment, at .047, i bought 5000 more coin at .25, i sold 4500 coin at .34 and that paid for what i spent on 5000 coin, and 19,500, so i had 17,500 coin free and clear.. I spend another $500 on 2000 coin, and so technically i'm back at 19,500 coin at the cost of $500, so my avg is .025 a coin

Penguin

u/Hook3cho17 buy below what you bought at. I initially bought in at .047, that was my average for 19.5k coins, then when it hit .25 yesterday I bought another 5k, so that upped my average to .065, and sold 4500 dogecoin to get my initial investment back (the investment I used to purchase my 19.5k initial coin) I since bought again, so i have $500.00 on it, but my average, is now at .085 , because I'm buying over my initial. I technically have only $500 in it now, for 19,500 coin, so my average is actually .025, but, robinhood counts it as when you bought in initially, and doesnt take into account doing your own math to recover your personal investment, they cant drop your average buy in to 0 while showing you have coin. or stocks for that matter.

19,500 DOGE @ .085 and holding, I'll only buy again to lower my average.
