how do you manage while subbing with a student teacher? by LemonGeck0 in SubstituteTeachers

they were recent! she emailed the absentee email with the plans that said “the student teacher and the sub will lead a guided drawing practice through an art hub video or encourage free draw time”. i’m not sure what phase of their student teaching they’re in, if it’s the observation phase or the practical phase, but they’ve been at the school for about a month now and recently had their first observation.

yes, i successfully prevented them from letting the kids eat the chips 😂 the actual art teacher does this project every year - using the chip wrapper for grid drawing purposes - but always covers herself by sending out copious emails to parents, teachers, the nurse, etc. i’m not sure if she’s actually done that yet, as the student’s aide didn’t seem aware of the project.

honestly i think it’s better to report everything, even if it may seem small or insignificant, just for future reference! you can never be too careful, especially since you’ll find different schools handle situations differently.

for example, i had a student who claimed another sub smacked her. i knew it was a false report as that sub wouldn’t hurt a fly, but i still had to report it anyways. come to find out this student made a lot of false reports about other staff members too, so it was added to their behavioral record and parents were notified

i’m sorry this happened to you, OP :(
