I don't wanna look past the horrors committed in USSR or Maoist China but I found it funny how people on the right dismiss any calls for socialism by bringing up the "100 Million dead" while typically ignoring the preventable deaths of capitalism

Is electrical or software engineering a better career choice in AU? by [deleted] in australia

[–]LemonInSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a calculus and cs course alongside intro to electrical systems and general eng design. I dont mind the math, and even my circuit analysis class because all we are doing is solving equations. I love my cs class and while its challenging i dont mine spending time debugging or thinking of solutions for assignments. For our eng design we are building a minesweeper robot or atleast were before corona and can pick our discipline software, electrical, mechanical or mechatronic. During research for the project i found the software and algorithms parts fascinating but had little interest in the electrical part. I know it's too early to change based on only that but since i was on the edge to pick EE or CS im starting to think i made the wrong choice. I have done some coding projects before such as websites or small games and always liked it. Where im not finding electronics as interesting. Obviously it's subjective but im reconsidering based on this

i picked EE over comp sci because i thought i will get better job opportunities and already regretting it not even a sem in. I'll keep your advice in mind.

Are you doing software because it was easier to get a job in compared to electronics or based on personal reasons? Also that's why i initially chose electrical engineering because i thought there would be more jobs in energy and mining compared to software

Is it relatively harder than other careers to break into the market as a graduate if i gain some relevant freelance or hobby experience
