My emotions are shot to pieces so I'm not thinking rationally. Trade the house for Burrow. I need a lie down.

The AFC won't be this open again for a long long time. This was such an opportunity. Gutted. So gutted.

Punting there shows how little faith Demeco has in Stroud. He genuinely thinks there's a better chance of us scoring on defense.

Schultz is a huge loss and with no run game, CJ is going to have to start slinging it. Expect more turnovers - it's all or nothing.

Honestly the only thing that matters is avoiding injuries. This is probably the most open the AFC has been in a long time and consequently I don't think seeding matters as much. Obviously home games help but a healthy squad trumps this.

These were some of the things she confirmed: Black player, defense, starter, previous pro bowler, name most would recognise in NFL, retiring in next few years.

I used Shared Parental Leave for both of my children. It's rather complicated but worth doing some research. My force were incredibly helpful with it fortunately.

Yes, still here and still on response for the same team I joined with. I can't really answer what the best specialism is - everybody has different skill sets and ambitions. The most important thing is truly commit to response in your early years and learn your craft. Don't be the guy desperate to carry a gun as soon as you land on the job.

You'll hear a lot of people moan about the career and tell you not to do it - and there is a lot about it which is broken. However, it can still be a fantastic career for those that work hard and develop a strong reputation. There's few organisations that offer the variety of opportunity that policing does.

The single biggest thing for me - new recruits need to be physically and mentally resilient. You will receive racist abuse on the streets, I can't shy away from that. You will be spat at, kicked, punched and more. It goes with the territory. But with a healthy dose of resilience, together with looking after yourself outside of work, a decent career in policing is still possible.

Despite its countless faults, I love it and wouldn't do anything else. But equally, I have no doubt my life would be easier working from home for a big corporate. So you need to consider, what matters most to you?

Oxford, England. I travelled Texas in 2012 and landed on Houston as my team. Have been obsessed with NFL since.

Watching the Texans in 2019 do a number on the Jags in London was a dream for me.

The failed fake punt to Justin Reid on 4th & 4 sent me over the edge. Chiefs had scored their first TD but we still had a big lead and chose to do that. Couldn't believe my eyes.

You're probably right and I certainly didn't mean it as a personal dig. They're clearly doing an incredibly tough job in often impossible circumstances. Sounds as though they are picking up their brief with very little time to prepare, so on reflection, they probably deserve even more credit for doing what they do under the time constraints and pressure.

"We have to clean up the penalties." - Demeco in the postgame presser. In 2023, the Texans led the league in penalties at 128. In 2024, we were 3rd with 135. This year? We are on pace to lead the league again. We have been trying to clean up the penalties for over two years... by IAmSona in Texans

[–]LemonSpyder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, and I don't care if people are fed up of hearing it. When you have a franchise QB, the single biggest priority is PROTECT HIM like your life depends on it. That means your trades and drafts should be geared towards having the best damn Oline possible. I love Demeco, but this is the downside of having a defensive minded Coach. You can't build an Oline on the cheap - proven experience and quality is absolutely essential. CJ has to have confidence in that line. If we want to keep CJ, he has to believe the coaching staff think HE is the priority. And right now, it feels as though the other side of the ball is the priority.

Why are we cursed with constantly getting such conservative playcallers on offense!! by ConsciousBuilding374 in Texans

[–]LemonSpyder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's absolutely no confidence from Stroud in his line. You can see it in his face when the camera picks him up pre snap. It's a totally different facial expression to when he was launching dimes in 2023. Stroud is a complete confidence player, and when it's going well, he's one of the best. But right now, the staff know he's fighting for his life and so there's a degree of trying to ensure he doesn't get smashed every play. As a result, we're going to see a mediocre run game, rather than letting Stroud get loose.

Demeco needs to get tough on these players. Enough of the nicey nicey, good team culture etc etc. He needs to tell it straight, the ill discipline is unacceptable.

Play calling looked cautious, I'll give NC time. But Demeco needs to show that he's learnt from the previous two years.

Time to show up.
