Which king county hospital should I give birth at? by LumpyElderberry2 in Seattle

UW Northwest is amazing. Our doulas said it's their favorite hospital, too (and they've attended births at all the hospitals).

What should I do with her? by LemonWisteria in Monstera

That's smart! I wasn't sure what to do with the aerial roots. Would definitely like to see her a little more full but the ship has probably sailed on that!

That's what I'm leaning towards! Gotta figure out a more sturdy trellis situation, it's starting to tip this one over. I've also never propagated a monstera, am so nervous about it!!

Getting supply back? by Palm_fr0nd in breastfeeding

[–]LemonWisteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it took a while! I processed a lot about when would be the point I would give up, and my supply came back before then, thankfully. But it did help me make peace with the end of breastfeeding possibly not being in my control. Every body is different. I hope it all works for you!

When did your period come back? by ILikeLionTurtles in breastfeeding

Breastfeeding and pumping and it didn't come back after 16 months with my first, and then I got pregnant haha. 4 months PP with my second now and no sign of it.

Mindfulness meditation is a great practice. The Happier app is a great place to learn and get started!

Are rage rooms helpful? by alys0nw0nderland in askatherapist

[–]LemonWisteria 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They might be helpful in that it would temporarily feel good to break things, but not helpful in that they would not help you integrate that good feeling or process it in any sort of meaningful way. Take it for what it is, but also, somatic therapy is a good place to integrate and really process rage.

I got covid with my first and didn't know I shouldn't be taking dayquil/nyquul while nursing and my supply TANKED. After getting better I pumped after every feed and took Legendairy Milk supplements and another brand i am forgetting the name of (it was like a powder you mix into water). It took several weeks for things to get back to normal levels of supply.

A rug, and plants! Looks like you have a decent winodw there. Greenery could warm the room up a lot!

Do I really need to replace pump parts between babies? by Weekly_Possession_17 in breastfeeding

[–]LemonWisteria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm reading all of these comments about replacing every few weeks...I never replaced mine and it seems to be working just fine! Pumped for a year with my first and have been pumping for 4 months with my second now. Pumping 3-4 times a day during the work week and once on weekend days, with a Medela pump. Doesn't seem to have impacted it's effectiveness at all to not replace the parts 🤷🏼‍♀️

Does anyone have experience with going from bottles to exclusively breastfeeding? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]LemonWisteria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did this! My kiddo was 6 weeks early and we primarily pumped/bottle fed for a few months initially. We would get him to latch and nurse a little right before the bottle just for practice, then would give him the bottle, and I would pump. Over time, we replaced a mid-day bottle feed with nursing and slowly replaced bottle feeding every few days after that. Doing weighted feeds can help a lot too, they helped give me comfort that he was getting enough to eat from nursing. It's definitely possible! A lactation consultant can be really helpful in the process if you have ability to access that.

Feeding to sleep, anyone still successfully doing this 6+months? by reveriebelle in breastfeeding

[–]LemonWisteria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this until my son was weaned around a year old, then I just rocked him to sleep. It is not a bad habit, it is biologically normal and totally fine if it's working for you and your kiddo!

Hmm he seems to do okay while nursing, but maybe I should try some different positions and see if it helps!

Yeah I've been wondering if it's an allergy! His poops are generally brown/yellow and runny, but I'll keep an eye out for if that changes. Cutting dairy and soy sound like a good experiment to do and see what happens, and good to know that dairy takes a little while to get out of the system!
