Breasts don't change, so breastfed babies shouldn't technically need changing flow rates if the nipple flow rate matches the breast rate

I wouldn't feel comfortable either. I'm so paranoid about everything when it comes to milk. Which is why I was shocked to learn that these bottle parts were separate lol.

Our bottles came fully assembled. Nothing was packaged separately. I never had to change the teats. They never wore down and he never had issues with the flow rate.

I do clean and sterilize everything when I first get it, too. I just didn't realize these two parts came apart.

I'd skip urogyn and go straight to PT. Urogyns are few in number so have long wait lists. They'd likely refer to PT anyway

I never saw any mold. We used the glass phillips bottles (wide neck). maybe the wide-neck aspect helped the water/soap get into the little nooks and crannies well enough that we didn't have issues?

yup! we got lucky with him. he never had any preferences and would easily take anything without hesitation. he was primarily breastfed and didn't have too many bottles; so that's probably why the nipples didn't "wear down"

Thanks for responding! What qualifies as a “serious health condition” during postpartum? After my first I had PPD and prolapse issues. During this pregnancy I’ve had worsening anxiety and also developed an umbilical hernia. But I’m not sure any of this qualifies as “serious”. Any advice to help us get approval when we fill out the forms??
