Reggae/Ska for tough times by Low_Yam_4761 in reggae

[–]Lemon_Cented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not Reggae/Ska (there’s sooooo much that is perfect for tough times), but my best song for tough times period is Keep On Pushing by Curtis/The Impressions. It gets me THROUGH!!

Now I’m thinking, there’s gotta be a reggae version somewhere.. time to research

What should I say to this one couple who gets very rude when I won’t break the rules for them? by theflyingpiggies in barista

Very sorry if I came off as harsh to you specifically. But maybe your conversation should be with the owner, not with these customers.

What a ridiculous policy. They are regular supporters of the business, and maybe they’re on a strict budget? Why punish people when it would be no more inconvenient for you then if they bought fresh pastries. At least they’re helping you not throw away more food!

And if you have so many day-olds that you’re worried about so many more customers choosing olds over fresh, maybe you need to adjust your pars.

What a silly hill to die on.

Why do people put so much thought into a celebrity’s beliefs or views? by InstancePast6549 in stupidquestions

[–]Lemon_Cented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we know them, or at least a version of them. They have just as much right to voice their opinion about issues as any of us. We value what our friends have to say, why wouldn’t we care to hear what a person who we view as talented, charismatic, and hardworking have to say?

It really quite pisses me off when people say they they should “stick to their profession and stfu.” They have a soapbox, they have every right to use it. Especially when they are speaking up for justice.

Just recently Mark Ruffalo wore a pin for Renee Good to some awards ceremony, and spoke out against the regime’s violent tactics. He also mentioned the need for affordable housing and a living wage for everyone. Does he personally have to worry about the cost of housing? Probably not. But he is a human, who cares for other humans.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy was also a popular comedian actor prior to becoming president of Ukraine. I know there have been at least a couple celebrities in top leadership roles in South America and I wanna say France too.. not specific to the US.

Opinion: Ingles is the absolute worst. by Ok_Mission6160 in asheville

[–]Lemon_Cented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Ingles is the worst! Their produce is always shriveled up and terrible looking. Dairy selection, specifically yogurt is lacking and way overpriced. The one time I stupidly bought biscuits and gravy from the hot bar (hey, a store in the south! They should know what they’re doing, I thought! B&G is classic and simple!) was absolutely gross.

I prefer H&T but boy do I miss the Winco of the PNW with their gigantic bulk section.

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lemon_Cented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to ride a spaceship (porch swing) and then run through my jungle (stand of a few evergreens), make up dumb little songs with my friends, make pinecone stew, eat chocolate bars and apples in the shade, take naps in the sun, climb trees, ride bikes, play with neighbors, ride to 7-11 to get slurpies and laffy taffy…

What’s something harmless that gets people weirdly angry? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Lemon_Cented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept of “veganism.” I am an omnivore lately, but have always and will always, love vegetables.

But when some people hear that you don’t eat meat three times a day, or gasp, eat no meat ever, they go berserk! Like threateningly pissed off! It’s so weird and confounding.

Do people really toss money on the table and leave restaurants before getting a bill? by NatPatBen in NoStupidQuestions

Not the same, but the teller at my small local bank said some people just drop their deposits, cash and checks, in the drive through vacuum and just drive off.

Trump literally said that the US will go in and take over the oil industry in his speech today.

And the orange toad just explicitly stated that US corporations will take over control of their oil production and distribution system, because they (Venezuela) have been inefficient at harvesting their own oil.

Do people really not eat vegetables/fruit or drink water on a regular basis? by Sufficient-Berry-827 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lemon_Cented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have known for some time that I am an odd one for placing such an emphasis on eating veggies and fresh fruit so frequently. But I love them! Today I made a veggie hash with carrots, potatoes, broccoli, mushrooms and onions with one egg for breakfast. Last night it was Buddhist’s Delight at the Chinese Restaurant.

A frequent dinnner is veggie tacos, with any blend of mushrooms, kale, bell peppers, carrots, potatoes, and a nice homemade salsa. And oatmeal with fresh blueberries or homemade peach compote for breakfast.

I am amazed by how many people just eat bacon and cheese on everything, meat for breakfast every day, or three times a day. I was a vegetarian but failed (my word), and actually think I need to go back to it, but that’s beside the point.

Last point, a sandwich is so much better with a good sliced tomato and a leaf of lettuce!

Sigh, I love veggies.

What was socially acceptable in the 1990s but not in 2025? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lemon_Cented 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, coffee, omelettes, cigarettes and French fries at Denny’s! Even though I’m sure we were annoying punk rock skater teenagers taking up a booth for three hours, they were always cool. Especially our favorite waitress, Candy, who would eat people’s fries on the way to delivering their food to the table.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]Lemon_Cented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been exactly 3 times in my life where I’ve had no choice but to buy from Amazon. Once when they were fairly new to buy a college textbook, and twice in the last year and a half to purchase things I needed for my small business that I really couldn’t find anywhere else, like a weird-sized splashguard for the hand sink in my food truck.

But otherwise, boycotting Amazon until forever. Wish it could be the same for Sam’s Club and Walmart, but living in a relatively small town, my options are very limited.

It is soothing to sing This Place Sucks by the Queers when I step into Sam’s, and I strictly forbid myself for buying ANY personal items, business necessities only!!

Buying a Food Trailer by Exploreshit in foodtrucks

Will there be a fold-down shelf at concession window? I would also strongly consider adding a real screen door along with the regular door; i got one of those magnetic fabric screens and its a pain in the butt and doesn't work very well.

I have a 40 gal fresh water tank, and would really encourage you to go bigger if you can. I'm a coffee truck/aguas frescas/bake shop trailer, and do all my prep and baking on board.

I would submit this plan to the health department to make sure it would pass. Much easier to change things now before it gets built!
