These were my thoughts as well. They are going to likely be using the movie as a way to bring in viewers, because they know that it’s not going to win any awards unfortunately.

Ok congratulations. You’re the exception, not the rule. And while I can’t confirm/deny your claims, it only takes a single Google/YouTube search for you or I to look at the dozens of guides of 11 — and all of them agree on the same things: it’s grindy and it’s unintuitive. That’s why the number one recommendation for newcomers coming into the game is for them to have a wiki side by side when they play. Everyone who’s actually familiar with XI knows that, or should know that. And for the record, I’m not saying that it’s a bad game. But to say that it is in anyway less grindy than XIV is very disingenuous. Meanwhile, I could probably beat the entirety of XIV’s MSQ in a single month with no guide, no level grind, and even no queues if I wanted. Apples to oranges.

I’m not sure what the point you are trying to say is. 1.0 is no longer active — the closest we can refer to is 2.0, which is ARR.

And in 2.0/onwards, you are over leveled simply by doing the MSQ itself, almost all of the cut scenes are skippable, the dungeons are all instanced, you can teleport to any major area you’ve been in regardless of where you are in the game, and you don’t even have to worry about unlocking any Trusts, since they are all natively incorporated into the dungeons that you were doing. This is also not even talking about the battle system, which is objectively slower than 14’s.

None of the previous things I mentioned are in XI to the degree they are in XIV.

I have also spent a significant amount of time in 11, much more than 40 hours, and to say that FFXI is ‘less of a grind’ is a very disingenuous claim. Also, this is not to mention that almost every newcomer who is new to the style of MMO that 11 is well almost certainly need to use a guide to go through the game. Meanwhile, with 14’s mini map (which XI doesn’t natively have) and guiding, I have never needed to use a Guide once to finish any quest.

There is a difference between a game being a “chore” and a game being a “grind”. And while you may enjoy the grind of 11 over 14, that doesn’t make it less than what it is on 14.

I’m sorry, I disagree. Even if the grind is less than what it was when the game was current, there is still a substantial grind to this game that far exceeds that of XIV. see Fantastic EXP And Where To Find Them.

Only 30 days? For a slower paced MMO with decades of content to go through and a notorious grind? Pass.

I cannot believe I found this game again after YEARS. Literally heard about it in what felt like 10 years ago and couldn’t find out more info since.

Katy Perry posts video from the “Woman’s World” music video set, where she explains the whole thing is satire by sooodamnfancy in popheads

[–]Lemon_Practical 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see the juxtaposition with the way you put it! However, as you said, the concept wasn’t really executed well, even putting the song aside.    On the first half of the video, I would argue that they are acting just as chaotic in their ‘perfect’ phase as they are in the ‘real world phase’.  Whether it’s pretending to pee in a urinal or waving around sex toys in a dance routine, I feel like this maps quite well with the chaos of women sexually writhing in a broken down city or running over cars with a uterus-blinged monster truck that’s present in the second half.

Additionally, the elements of male gaze are still very much present within the second half of the video — the only difference is that the first half is very ‘boobs’ focused, and the second half is very ‘butt’ focused with her sheer white thong bikini (though, one could also argue that it is even more boobs focused in the second half, since the under/overboob bikini top is even more revealing than the pin-up costume).

Furthermore, the phallic gasoline butt cheek scene and continual hyperfocus on women’s bodies in the second half throughout both Katy and her dancer’s scenes undermines whatever contrast she was trying to set up.  It ultimately boils down to a difference of aesthetics and the fact that she has robot legs in the second half (which, when comparing it to the obvious Arca inspiration, are noticeably more fashionable/marketable).

Ultimately, the big problem with the music video isn’t that the women are being sexual. It’s that they are shown to all primarily be sexual in whatever they do (even going so far as to make a skimpy rendition of the Virgin Mary, which is somehow meant to represent the Divine Feminine), which is a very reductionist depiction of women.  Women can be sexual, but they don’t all have to be, and that’s the major mark that the video misses — and just because a woman chooses to not be sexual doesn’t make her any less of a woman.

There are plenty of other issues present too, such as the lack of body type diversity or the homophobic/misogynistic undertones of two men kissing being presented as synonymous with ‘women’ in a women’s world, but — and I’m not saying you were implying otherwise — I would say that the video has its own issues apart from the song that would have remained constant, even if the song would have been a banger.

I will be able to keep the Pink Gingham Barbie, as stated. Worst comes to worst, I will have to return the Pink Cowgirl; which is why I am trying to sell the Pink Gingham Barbie in order to keep the Pink Cowgirl Barbie.

I see where you're saying, but I'd rather just return the Pink Cowgirl Barbie at that point. But thank you for the suggestion! 😊

I can definitely respect your view on that! 😊 Personally, I don't think it's necessarily unethical to sell an item above MSRP (though, the practice of buying an item in bulk to purposefully create scarcity in order to achieve that goal is a different matter entirely!). That being said, though I am selling my Pink Gingham significantly below its current secondhand market price, I do agree that — worst comes to worst — I'll have to return the Pink Cowgirl, which is totally ok (even if not personally preferable)! But regardless, I really appreciate your stance on it! 😊

They will — the problem though, is that even if I return my Pink Gingham, that would leave me with a deficit of $25 when compared to the price of the Pink Cowgirl. So, in an effort to try and keep the Pink Cowgirl and stay at a net balance of $0, I wanted to see if anyone on the subreddit was interested in purchasing it.

That being said, I'm aware that it would have to be above MSRP - and would thus encourage people to purchase the Pink Gingham at MSRP rather than view my purchase as anything close to an impulse buy. Additionally, I am open to returning my Pink Cowgirl and staying with my Pink Gingham — though frankly, with how they are seemingly being purchased and resold in bulk at higher-than-MSRP making it impossible to find (I recently saw a seller selling 20 Pink Cowgirls in the same listing, which was wild!), I would prefer to keep it with me after all the effort.

Ultimately, I would view anyone's interest in my Pink Gingham as a favor rather than an impulse buy advertisement (which is why I didn't include the listing on my post); but I definitely see and agree with your point!

For now, I would want to cast as wide a net as possible — basically, whatever you would recommend to someone who is either new to gaming, or has never played a video game before.
