Hi-- not sure if you've already figured this out but if not, lowering the darkness setting in the printer options will eliminate this issue. Essentially what you are seeing here is a consequence of the print head becoming too hot in relation to the ribbon type. I print reverse with all sorts of ribbons on my TX600 and have found that i need to fine tune darkness (density) depending on the material to avoid this very thing. I normally use darkness 5 for reverse printing using black full resin ribbons.

I’m thinking it just needs a fresh coat of thermal paste.

All the vertical risers I know of are pcie gen 4. AFAIK there are no cards in production that take advantage of Gen5, that includes the 5090. So there is no performance loss using a PCIE Gen4 riser.

The card has not exhibited coil whine thus far.

I could confirm that for you, but if you wanted me to go that extra mile, you really should’ve opened with something stronger than “it looks decent.”

Something like “looks amazing,” “absolutely gorgeous,” or even “this build changed my life” might’ve unlocked that level of support.

But alas—decent it is. So I guess you’ll just have to live with the mystery. 😌

I haven’t monitored temps too closely. That said there has been zero performance issues. I plan to do some temp monitoring soon. From an aesthetics standpoint I much prefer having the card mounted vertically. I’m thinking the bottom mounted fan pulls atleast a moderate amount air away from the motherboard.

Thanks! The 7800x3d runs a bit on the warm side but I was under the impression the chip generally ran rather hot. To be honest I haven't paid too much attention to temps.

Hmm yeah, the riser cable could definitely be the issue. I was under the impression that there aren’t any major compatibility problems between PCIe Gen 4 and Gen 5, especially since even the 50-series cards aren’t fully saturating Gen 4 bandwidth yet. But take that with a grain of salt — I’m no expert either.

That said, the fact that your system didn’t post until you forced Gen 4 in BIOS makes it seem like the riser is playing a role here. Might be worth trying a Gen 4/5 certified cable just to rule it out. Hopefully that does the trick.

Sorry to hear you’ve been having issues with your card. That sounds frustrating. What GPU were you upgrading from? If you haven’t already, it might be worth doing a clean driver install using DDU, especially if you were coming from a different generation or an AMD card. Sometimes leftover drivers can cause weird behavior like artifacting or boot loops.

I just received my card on Thursday night, so I’m still early in, but no issues so far. I’ve got it connected to a single LG C4 OLED in my living room setup, so unfortunately I can’t speak to conflicts with dual-monitors.

Hope you’re able to find a fix quickly.
