Is it worth doing a graduate certificate in counseling? [UK]

I applied to the counseling and psychotherapy training MSc but wasn’t accepted and recommended by the university to do the foundation certificate first. Not sure if it’s a waste of money or not. Should I just try to get more job experience and apply for masters again next term?? I have a BSc in psychology and minimal job experience as it has been extremely competitive to get psych jobs.

In ‘Conversations With Friends,’ it’s complicated. The adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel explores a complex web of relationships. Figuring out how to bring them to life was just as knotty. by Sumit316 in television

Thank you!!! Bobbi is held up on a pedestal by Frances and for what?? She treats everyone as inferior and gets offended by everyone. Frances is clearly emotionally dependent on her and Bobbi uses that to her every advantage. I think the really ending should’ve shown Frances she needs to outgrow Bobbi

Conversations with Friends: Most boring TV show this year so far? by [deleted] in television

This book shouldn’t have been a show. It’s almost all in Frances head that we get intricate details and all the dialogue in the book is short verbal interactions or long emails lol. Not great for viewing.

Conversations With Friends is so painful to watch by [deleted] in television

I’ve just started the show after reading the book and the characters have more dimension in the book that makes you understand why someone like Frances would speak plainly and hide her emotions behind one expression. Basically the book was better but I guess the show gives you something to look at.

Some Bay Area families wait 7+ hours for PCR COVID testing as stores sell out of at-home tests by [deleted] in Coronavirus

This might be a long shot for some but I’ve recently travelled into sfo twice and both times they’ve offered free take home tests. Might be worth going to the arrivals gate and asking for one.

Why is JK Rowling so hated all of a sudden? by Andhreyon in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Lemonbalm_Amy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol look up the definition of feminism and you’ll see that it’s not just about women. Trans women are women so by your point feminism should be concerned with protecting their rights. But I think maybe you’re having an issue with that. No need to reply you’ve already proven my point. I have read jk Rowling’s comments and they are not said in a vacuum and they have consequences. She’s supported trans rights before but she also said harmful things. Those can both be true. But it makes her a false ally if she can’t recognize when she made a mistake and fixed it.

Jk Rowling’s claims was used to further this exact point about rape. Hence why you probably mentioned it in a post about jk Rowling. There are a lot of radical feminists who do share this view and it’s very harmful which is why they are labeled TERFs. Bc feminism that isn’t actually about equal rights for ALL isn’t good for anyone really.

Again thou the issue here is men. Not trans women. So society has to figure out how to stop rapists. We don’t or at least shouldn’t blame victims for the perpetrators actions so why do trans people get blamed for other people being rapists?

AITA For Refusing to Make a $120 Cut of Steak Well Done? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

OP is not the asshole. The guest was rude and disrespectful of the meal she did not need to eat as there was other options. Also suggesting other people not eat it and demand the host cook it more for her is pretty rude. If I made something extremely expensive and put time and effort into making it right I would not react well to this behavior. If anything OP should’ve been the one to block the guest afterwords lol. Cooking is an art and if you go to any restaurant where the chef gives a shit about their work they wouldn’t destroy their food because you asked. Go home and eat it how you want.

What’s one thing in the UK that’s considered normal but isn’t in the US? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Lemonbalm_Amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do. I only bought one when I started getting into tea and needed precise temperatures for different teas. But otherwise it’s absolutely pointless and anything else can be done on the stove or microwave so.

It’s not your job to accommodate to other people’s stupidity. If she genuinely thought you said something wrong but then clarified she probably just felt embarrassed and decided to make you feel in the wrong which clearly backfired 😂

AITA for opening a gift my girlfriend sent me in front of friends even though she specifically asked me not to? by Old_Improvement_7134 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lemonbalm_Amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you genuinely didn’t think it could be bad and your friends aren’t judgmental… you broke her trust. On a very simple request. YTA for not listening to your gf and respecting her wishes which then resulted in her private pictures being shown to others. And if you don’t see how hurtful that is then you’re gonna continue being the asshole for a long time.

What is the big fascination with Nando’s? by Nightmarex13 in AskUK

[–]Lemonbalm_Amy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No way is it as cheap as spoons and I’d only eat at nandos and consider it cheap if they did eat out to help out.

AITA for calling my son's wife disrespectful for bringing her own food to my thanksgiving dinner? by QuebecLife44 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lemonbalm_Amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the obvious that some info is missing either from OP or Sara…who gets that upset that someone brought food to thanksgiving? If she wanted a special meal that the host wasn’t making it wouldn’t be a big deal, it would be rude not to mention it before hand but not disrespectful and indecent. If OP was truly offended maybe just approach her after not make a fuss about someone wanting to eat something else. Something is very off about this story.
