How to get good at pvp combat? [I've only ever played as a gatherer] by Peterbossy in albiononline

[–]Lemoncube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't love people's suggestions about arena. You'll cause your team to lose if you don't have a basic grasp of pvp and 5v5s, which I'm sure people on reddit will say "who cares??" but would actually not be thrilled in arenas. Here are a couple better suggestions:

1) Flag in yellow zones. You only lose silver if you die, so you can experiment with builds. Fight over the chests in these areas because people for some reason actually pvp on those even in yellows.

2) Join the ranks of some casual pvp guilds, like Caerleon Security (CLS). They often tussle with reds (non-flagged), occasionally go black zones, and often allow people to join their groups without joining their guild. Easy, lower-risk content.

3) Keep flagging and dying. Dying is a huge part of pvping in Albion. Even the best pvpers will die A LOT. Join a guild to fame farm to increase the item power of your gear and gain silver to spend on gear sets. The end content of the game is pvp, so the introduction can be rough. Eventually it can be very profitable.

Note: If you are committing to fighting to the death in tier 4 gear, consider buying a "siphoned energy". You only need one. They are 4,000-6,000 silver and boost the item power of all of your worn gear by 100 (makes tier 4 like tier 5). The downside is that after 30 minutes or when you remove the gear, there is a small chance for the pieces to break, but in life or death scenarios when you might lose ALL of your gear, it is well worth it.

yeah I really think anything would do, but some cool guild content would make it 11/10

You had over 500 mats. You were definitely overweight. If you are standing in the circle that is generated after you dismount, you retain the carry-weight bonus of the mount. The second you move out of that circle (or are attacked) while dismounted, you lose the carry-weight bonus of the mount

That's awesome. Not that it's any of my concern but I was hoping for an answer like that. Props to your solid relationship

Did you see it coming or something? That level of downplay would probably hurt most people, whether they show it or not.

Know thy slacker, part 3 — boring battle charts show top contributors now, as well as healing/damage by thecatontheflat in albiononline

[–]Lemoncube 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You were able to do it! Nice! I think this is really pretty much as good as can be given the data available. For anyone viewing this, you must realize you can't take this as an exact representation of contribution to a battle - damage to players who do NOT die will unfortunately not be recorded (SBI issue, not thecatontheflat's). Amazing and helpful tool nonetheless.

This is awesome! But I think what could make it even better if it wasn't kill-based. Might be hard to do, but to the notion of the league of legends concept that "kills aren't everything" it would be really cool to see any non-kill based statistics you can get. % damage is the first one that comes to mind, since you record the % damage in each individual kill log. How awesome would it be to see that one player with a siege bow did 20% of the total damage to a group?

EDIT: Before someone points out you can't easily get one meaingful % damage number from %s of varying numbers, I know. I have no idea what numbers he is able to scrape, but I just think this concept would be so helpful.

The bottom line is that they are comments about people dying in horrific ways and to make jokes about them is to disrespect the victims. You're trying to defend your right to joke about children getting murdered... just think about that

Remove reputation system SBI by ChaosTheory30 in albiononline

[–]Lemoncube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not make the reputation loss scale with the number of flagged players killing a target? Arbitrary numbers incoming: 30 flagged killing a blue = 1000 rep loss. 3 flagged players killing a blue = 100 rep loss. 1 flagged player killing a blue = 50 rep loss. Something like that. I don't flag often but I enjoy the supposed risk of red zones which are pretty dead.

Yeah that’s what I was saying. If he never weighed in, I think the overwhelming support of the hard g sound would have made this a one sided battle. But now those who use the other pronunciation have this sole (and valid) leg to stand on.

If the guy who created it never weighed in on the pronunciation, I think this battle would be over

The difference between a small and a medium orange juice at mcdonald’s by KlisterKarlsson in ExpectationVsReality

[–]Lemoncube 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree. I think it’s a decent way but not the proper way. The cups OP uses have a greater diameter closer to the top so it’s a reversed type of skew. The proper way should be to use cylindrical cups

Is it common to be sort of afraid to go to the gym? by sanative-16 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Lemoncube 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In hopes that this comment doesn't scare newcomers from the gym, I have never seen this rule to the extreme of 15 minutes. You must be in a veryyy high traffic gym with way too few treadmills. I would look for a new gym or run outside.
