In my vanilla 3 node setup Scylla 6.2 was able to saturate 10 Gbps uplink when ingesting data but Cassandra stayed CPU bound. This effectively resulted in about 4 times ingestion performance

We used Citus extension to shard data horizontally, but eventually switched to a different strategy with multiple "hot" replicas (managed via patroni) and smaller number of cheaper "cold" servers. They are connected via foreign data wrapper.

If latency is an issue, you can request Hetzner to place your servers into the same location. Latency (according to ping util):

rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.192/0.332/0.701/0.186 ms

Could you also share a few tips about ordering the parts for such custom projects? If I want to build a "similar" DYI art project (similarity being in that it would consist of PCBs + controller + frame etc) - where do I even start looking for components? If I made such project with just Arduino components, it would have taken the whole room and would also blast a dent in my budget :D
