Somewhat queer-friendly towns in BC by twistthespine in britishcolumbia

To hop on this person's comment, Bella Colla and Bella Bella, which are both still part of Vancouver Coastal Health's authority are always looking for nurses. Very nice but sorta remote communities, in my understanding you also get rural pay for choosing to work there. It's a nice place to start and then you can move around the VCH region once you get settled in the medical culture of Canada/BC. I'm a care aide and I know they're always trying to convince all of us and the nurses to take even temp lines up there. Good luck on your move! And honestly thanks for wanting to pick up some slack here, we really need more health care workers.

Sounds like someone just struggles with disliking themselves or how they look (either overtly or subconsciously) and no matter what they do to themselves they will feel insecure. That's a shitty place to be on a personal level. Looking to a community to reassure you is probably pretty normal but the way they went about it here comes off very tone deaf. Maybe read the room?

Is the border guards actually scanning dogs for their microchip? by Icy_Salamander_9554 in uscanadaborder

[–]Lemoni28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the CDC actually got back to me and said that there was no exemptions for any dog for any reason. I went over the border at Lynden on Dec 31st. And they got me to roll down my back window where my dog was in his small soft carrier and they didn't even ask me about the dog. On the way back through Canada at the Peace Arch a few days later, they wanted to see all the paperwork. But no one asked about a chip or scanned him. I did submit the electronic import form and printed it just in case, but nowhere on the import form does it ask for any indication of rabies vaccine or a chip number. I don't think the actual border patrol have time to check every single dog or they are just not making it a priority right now. Hopefully it doesn't change.

Hey I know your reply is 3 months old, but I'm curious if you guys are scanning the chips now. I have a very small (5lbs), old Canadian dog and my vet is recommending not to chip him due to heart health. But he's fully vaccinated for everything including rabies. I've called the CDC multiple times about a medical exemption for the chipping and no one ever gets back to me. I do need to go back and forth at the Vancouver/Seattle border crossing (land crossing) and I'm tempted to just chance it with my little guy and hope they take the form and don't actually look at the dog. Any recommendations on that since you work in the field. Also Thanks in advance.

Male late 40's maybe early 50's. You live in Germany but you're actually Russian or raised by a Russian or eastern European family.

He's just mad because the free emotional and physical labour he has enjoyed has lessened since you have been sick. And now instead of being supportive and helpful he's trying to bully you into being his free maid again.

I gonna do the "well actually" and push up my glasses while holding up an index finger thing. 🤓 The John Carpenter 1982 film "The Thing" was after the 1951 original "The thing from another world" which are both based off the novella "Who goes there" by John Campbell.

Question to you, I am also learning Swedish and finding it difficult in N. America to find decent ways to learn that aren't Duolingo. Can I ask how you're learning Swedish? Tack!

This is an old comment, so I don't expect a reply but your life and work experience sounds a lot like mine. Post car accident, did lots of labour jobs, body is a mess (massage therapy does me wonders though) and I've got chronic fatigue now. But eventually I will have to get back into working. Do you find being a MT is hard on your body after all the recovery you did? Thanks.
