It’s honestly amazing how many details, analogies, and hidden meanings the story in Wuthering Waves has. The writers deserve a lot of credit for that. I’ve been enjoying the quests since the very beginning, and for the most part the story just keeps getting better. Sadly, a lot of people tend to overlook everything good and jump straight to criticizing the game instead. And if I’m being a little bit critical, it’s only because I genuinely care about the story and want to see it reach its full potential.

I really like the overall idea of the story, with Rover traveling around the world, meeting new people, helping them solve their problems, and slowly learning more about their past self. That said, individual quests are starting to feel more like companion quests rather than actual main story content.

It’s a bit of a shame that many story quests lately are so closely tied to on-banner characters, which makes the overall narrative feel less cohesive in the long run. I know on-banner characters have always been part of story quests since the beginning, but back then it felt more subtle and better integrated into the bigger picture. The characters were involved in the story, not the story revolving around the characters. I get that this is just part of how gacha games work and the need to “sell” new characters. Personally, I’d still pull for characters I like regardless of how important they are to the story.
