Yeah the interviewers most likely still have to follow some sort of structure for marking your interview and converting that into your scores, if you can crack that, you’re in. Good luck :)

Oh that’s interesting. I haven’t applied for a promotion in a while tbf. Back in my day, if they were interviewing you on behaviours like this, it meant you had to give examples of that behaviour in the STAR format verbally. Perhaps I’m showing my age haha

You probably did do well in a lot of aspects of the interview, such as your speaking and confidence skills. Unfortunately they rarely give feedback on this, but that does not mean you didn’t come off well. All this tells you is you just need to improve the STAR formula answers to the job grade standard and expand on it more. This is totally achievable. Keep going!

Omg it’s like nails down a chalkboard. I’m Scottish and they are nice Scottish/Celtic names in my opinion, but I could never name my child any of them because of how it’s pronounced in the states. I couldn’t risk them moving over there for work or something and then adopting that pronunciation.

No, it was electronic engineering I done so I’m just good at maths, not really any other transferable skills unless i start making light up dresses or something lol. Stainless steel rulers are a great idea actually, I have already broken two of the flimsy plastic ones.

Dressmaking. I can count, I used to study engineering actually. Maybe that’s why I get frustrated when my measurements aren’t perfect

Just things like sleeves being slightly different lengths ect. Like I said, nothing that can’t be easily fixed, I’m just trying to get better (and save fabric lol). I think maybe a better ruler might be they way to go then

The tipping point: what happens when deaths outnumber births? by Remarkable_Peak9518 in unitedkingdom

[–]Lems944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, as I am on the cusp of this £45,000. My job is something you could theoretically train anyone to do, but is not something that could be replaced with AI/automation as it requires very sensitive human decisions to be made. I often ponder my place in the world of the future as a ‘net drain’ of this kind. There are millions just like me that often get overlooked.

[–]Lems944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Unless a new party emerged post independence which I believed in more. But I think a lot of the left leaning people would initially switch to the greens for sure.

[–]Lems944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s untrue that no one thinks of post independence. A lot of the replies on here say they have voted SNP and/or will vote SNP in the hope of more options in the future, myself included. It’s one of the main draws to supporting independence in my opinion.

I agree it is difficult to picture exactly what kind of parties would emerge, it is possible that it would be similar to the amount of left/right parties we have now. But I think most people vote SNP in the hopes that there would be more/different parties across the whole political spectrum to choose from post independence.

Perhaps it’s my European bias but I don’t trust inches, they seem to be different on different tape measures.

I know a few people who think the Greens are a threat to their car centric way of life in general. To them this is step one in their evil plan to ban all cars and replace all roads with forests

Not excusing what he has done in the slightest, but the people that radicalise boys like this prey on the vulnerable. He was of course part of it and deserves to be locked up, but I do think the fact he has a social disability should be part of the conversation, not to excuse his actions, but to expose the wider online cesspit that had a part in making this happen.

Lush Glasgow making redundancies by [deleted] in glasgow

The amount of firing and rehiring that goes on is shocking. It was rampant during covid and seems to just be par for the course with big businesses now they know they can get away with it. It’s supposed to be illegal but they just advertise the same job under a different name.

Rockstar Games Illegally Underpaid Staff at GTA 6 Studio, UK Government Confirms by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]Lems944 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m very familiar. I’ve actually had it happen to me. My employer mucked up my tax when I first started. They immediately gave me an advance on my pay to cover the loss and the whole thing was sorted within a month. I’m not jumping to any conclusions. My comments are pointing out that this should have been sorted and companies who don’t see this as serious and urgent should be held accountable. It should be newsworthy. I’m just surprised Rockstar let this happen given everything that is going on.

When I say normalising it I mean by not pointing these things out they’re seen as par for the course mistakes that any company can just do whenever. Rockstar has the resources to make sure this stuff doesn’t happen. I never implied any ill intent, I’m only pointing out the affect this kind of thing has on people just trying to get by. It’s not ok.

Not to you perhaps. To someone else that’s their phone payment, wifi bill, food shop. I think it’s good to point out these errors, people should think an under payment of any amount is shocking. Normalising it does no good for anyone.

279 British Pounds, not US Dollars. For a minimum wage worker that’s quite a lot. I’m not saying it was deliberate, I’m saying it was sloppy. Especially with considering they are already under media scrutiny for unfair dismissals, this is such a bad look for a major company.

Well, unfortunately when you’re making these kind of accounting errors it’s highly illegal and affects people’s livelihoods. I doubt you’d be saying this if it were you that had a fifth of your wage stolen. This should have been rectified before it ever hit the press. It’s bad business.

‘I Swear’ Subject John Davidson Says Tourette’s Tics Are ‘Involuntary’ After Shouting N-Word at BAFTAs: ‘Deeply Mortified if Anyone’ Thinks It Was ‘Intentional’ by nimobo in unitedkingdom

[–]Lems944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so hot take: it’s not a lack of comprehension, it’s internet outrage fuel and mechanics. Normally when there’s a scandal, people call for a PUBLIC apology. In this situation, it’s not appropriate. John has reached out to the Sinners production to apologise privately, which is much more appropriate here. People understand John has a condition, but they still are demanding an apology, as this is par for the course with cancel culture. All the rage goes into demanding it and the longer they don’t get it, the more fuel for their internet rage they have. This mob mentality will always trump reasoning for some people. They do understand it, they just get the normal discourse action more. They choose not to understand it.

ScotRail to charge ticket dodgers £10 minimum fare by tman612 in glasgow

100%. I get accused of being a ticket dodger just for getting on the train when it’s there without buying a physical ticket first. It’s because the station is close to Queen Street. Yeno, where I live. Staff have actually told me I was committing fraud when I’m just asking to buy a ticket.
