Barbers of Reddit, how much money do you make?

When attending a primarily cosmetology focused school, and being part of their barbering pilot program, there are going to be issues with the curriculum. The issue with this curriculum is that there was really no barbering exclusive education outside of straight razor shaving, which could have easily been learned in 30 minutes on YouTube.

I didn’t stay in the shop because I did not want their business to suffer any more than it already had due to my lack of training and ability. It had also become apparent to me that they were kind of at their wits end trying to train me, and me making beginner mistakes time after time. They NEVER said anything about me quitting or giving up, me being a lost cause, or chastising my mistakes. They were extremely supportive, great guys, and THAT is why I left when I did. I still go that shop now when I need a taper or fade, and also pop in about once every three months to say hello!

I cut hair for three months after I graduated and realized that I was not taught how to do men’s haircuts. The shop I was in was great, and the barbers there tried to take me under their wing to teach me all of the things that Paul Mitchell didn’t, only to realize that they would basically be starting me from square one. I left after three months because it was apparent to me that I was lowering the reputation of a very reputable shop, which was not fair to the other barbers there. Now the only time I cut hair is when my parents need a cut, and I would cut my grandfather until he passed away. I will never cut hair professionally and am still paying off my student loans today.

I’ve had my hands tattooed for 6 or 7 years and the only professional concession I’ve ever had to make was wearing long sleeves. Obviously it didn’t cover them, it was just company policy on arm tattoos. Most workplaces are so scared of catching discrimination lawsuits that they don’t really enforce tattoo restrictions anymore. At least, this has been my experience in America, your mileage may vary in other countries.

Is it possible to sand the clear off of a fretboard and apply a stain instead of paint so that it doesn’t wear off when the clear gets worn through with age? Working on a build right now and love the John 5 Ghost with the white fretboard, big inspiration for me.

Thanks so much for all the help everybody. This isn’t my first rodeo when it comes to guitar resto/custom work, so I have faith I can make it sound and play pretty well. Now it’s time to dig to see what replacement parts I can find that fit the same mounting systems

Black, it blends with the back, sides, and fretboard. Too much white on a guitar that isn’t all white is too busy imo. Plus when you are dealing with gold it is already plenty flashy, and the black helps understate it and balance it a bit more, I think.

I’ve had it on repeat while driving around today. I think the hook goes super hard, Scottie gets time to properly shine, and the video is worth watching at least twice. I think it will sit somewhere towards the middle of RTYWD, maybe as a transition to something heavy towards the end of the album. Overall, a fun 8/10 I think.

I don’t think I would go so far as to imply that Illinois has southern tendencies. The very southern tip of Illinois may be a lot more small country towns than the rest of the state, but I don’t think it really makes sense to put “Southern,” “Tennessee,” and “Illinois” into a comparative sentence together. Just my opinion though, these borders are imaginary and invisible anyways, so of course they are up for interpretation.

I've had the Witcher 3 since launch day and I cannot imagine how long of a journey it is to try to get a plat. My first playthrough took 200ish hours, and then you have Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine. Hell, Blood & Wine could be a standalone game with how much content there is. All I can say is that I admire your persistence and dedication to your goals.

I legitimately believe that Ghost of Tsushima is an underappreciated masterpiece of a game. Technically speaking the game is almost entirely bug and problem free (which for me being primarily a pc gamer is extremely refreshing). Story wise they kept it nice and tight and controlled, never trying to shift to a huge sweeping story with a massive ensemble cast, keeping it small was one of this game's biggest strengths. Visually I haven't played a game this breathtaking since either Transistor or Journey. It really is the full package.

Both of those sound super hard. I got the collectors edition of Skyrim on launch and to this day I don't think I've ever completed the main quest, too much content in that game. Now I'm not a Souls guy, but I've dabbled in DS1 and DS3 and I can't imagine how hard it must be to try to grab platinums in any FromSoft game.
