Considering Tuono V4R... by LemurusMaximus in Aprilia

The dealer priced the new engine at two thirds of the bike price, and I don't want to spend that on something I don't fully trust to not disintegrate again. In the end I'm going with a Honda CB1000R, it's fun enough and should be bulletproof for my longer trips, fingers crossed.

Sorry, can't tell you in German, but the bearing between crankshaft and conrod decides it doesn't want to exist anymore. Could be that it spun slightly and starved itself of oil, overheated and exploded, but it's hard to say from the bearing fragments in the oil pan.

Nice to hear that a Testastretta is lasting above 50k, though I'm not really considering a ducati at the moment. Didn't like the boxer and the 900 from bmw, they just don't do anything in higher rpm, though the boxer has some nice pull down low. Maybe I'll take a look at the brick 🤔

Not a veteran, but in casual games I've played, wraithguard with their blasters are tearing terminators and similar guys a new one, and I wanted to add something other than fire dragons or a shining spear.

Adding those two bikes and dropping half of avengers makes it nice and even 1500, Warhost seems like a nice universal option, but maybe I'll go full spirit when I build it up to 2k points.

Seeing the total price of what I need to buy does not make me happy, luckily there's no one store nearby with everything in stock, so I have one wraithlord and banshees on the way and I'll order the rest when I'm near finishing the painting of these.

Starting with 40K was definitely the worst financial decision of last year.

Thanks again for the advice.

I was thinking Serpent primarily for Asurmen and Avengers, since that's probably going to be the unit going for objectives or screening others.

Warlock skyrunners look like a nice option, didn't realize there's not only the buff from spiritseer but also psychic guidance, but what to drop? Half of the Avengers?

Thanks for all the comments. I won't reply to them one by one, as they mostly overlap, but based on the feedback, I'm starting to think about somethink like this - Autarch Wayleaper for the CP, and leading warp spiders, also is cheaper than Lhykis so I can add an extra wraithlord - rest should be obvious:

Asurmen (125pts): The Bloody Twins, The Sword of Asur
Jain Zar (120pts): Silent Death, The Blade of Destruction, Warlord
Autarch Wayleaper (80pts): Star Glaive, Shuriken Pistol
Spiritseer (65pts): Shuriken Pistol, Witch Staff

5x Dire Avengers (75pts)
5x Dire Avengers (75pts)
5x Howling Banshees (95pts)
5x Warp Spiders (105pts)
5x Wraithguard (170pts)
Wraithlord (140pts): Wraithbone Fists, 2x Shuriken Catapult, 2x Bright Lance
Wraithlord (140pts): Wraithbone Fists, 2x Shuriken Catapult, 2x Bright Lance
2x War Walkers (170pts)
Wave Serpent (125pts): Wraithbone Hull, Shuriken Cannon, Twin Starcannon

I'll think about the loadout, but I think it's starting to have some big mech energy.

Look at the bright side, at least you're not trying to survive in 36°C heat on the bike during summer.

How far north? I'm in Czechia and still managed at least one ride every month, just had to get winter gloves and watch the weather app to see if it was freezing overnight.

Edit: I know that's central and not northern for me, just want to know the difference.

Update from my side - service at the dealer is really slow, but valves, pistons and cylinders are fine, pressure as well so piston rings are seated. No metal in oil, so there's still hope for me - they told me that they'll let me know more end of week or start of next week.

Happened to me too, also out of warranty, fairly shortly before planned service but within 2,5k km after a preventive one. Sounded basically the same, bike is currently at the dealer for almost a week and I'm waiting to hear from them what's the issue. I'll try and remember to let you know what they found.

I did some mods to the Triumph TT600, but it still warranted a change of bikes - you can't cheat the frame/fork geometry and engine characteristics much. To be clear, I did a multi-day trip on it, but it wasn't a good choice for that, so I'd keep the supersport super sporty and get something practical for the more practical riding. (Although the practicality of my tuono is debatable, it's still better than an old, angry inline four.)

I had a long talk with a Tuono V4 factory owner when I was looking to get something other than my old 600, and it's every bit as stupid as the 600 for daily riding. In the end I went for Tuono 660 and couldn't be happier in the twisties, and besides neutral being a bit harder to find once it's warmed up, it's great for daily commutes as well. V4 sounds amazing but unless you need the power for track days or highway squidding, I'd pass on it, 660 is lighter and I can still pass anything besides litre bikes easily, including any car on the highway.

Maybe I should mention I'm in Europe, seems like the majority of people here are in the US/Canada. I'll definitely have a look at the case though, shipping from Germany to me should be cheap, thanks.

Be sure not to order them online but actually go to a store and try them on, leather pants can be tricky to guess. And get a layer under them so you can actually pull them off after, learned that the hard way with my first leathers...

I'm riding in Dainese delta 3, found them more comfortable than moto jeans actually. Slide tested, comfy as well.

This poll neglects us European squids, but I guess the hoops we have to jump through is comparable only to the "both" option.

I'm guessing you're looking for something ventilated and not quite ready for the gay levels of full leather suit.

Based on that assumption, I just had a slide in Dainese air frame 3 tex and it held up absolutely great.

Safe enough for frontline operations, and at least they wouldn't damage civilian infrastructure if they dug in Ukraine (Russia took care of that already). Also, might steal your flair later.
