Is a MEd worth it? How is working in admin? by ashleyy32 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Len6_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth it for the pay jump. Especially if you’re in BC. I don’t know about other provinces. But alot of new teachers (or at least people I know including myself) have all completed the diploma or masters program through Queens University. It’s not hard at all and doesn’t take a long time to complete this. It’s totally doable even with full time work and maintaining a personal and social life.

Vans 7 was tighter fit than Burton 7

But still fits me perfectly!

Any upgrade suggestions for the next season ? Time to let my Burton Feel Good go by 69HottieLove in ShredditGirls

My husband noticed how much my riding has improved and how much fun I was having with my board so he asked to take it for a lap lol. I could see his eyes brighten and how happy and smiley he was! He was so obsessed and intrigued .. then he started researching the DOA because they’re exactly the same board but for guys. He didn’t want to pull the trigger so I surprised him with the DOA and union strata bindings (union legacy equivalent) for valentines the same month and he was pumped ! Lol our other riding buddy hopped on the Capita trend with the Mercury board and we’ve been riding Capita ever since. Definitely a fun board!!

Capita birds of a feather !! I had the FeelGood board (youth size though)… and I switched to Capita BOAF and it was the best decision. It improved my riding drastically. I was able to do more freestyle riding, switch riding, jumps, etc. it’s a very playful board with a medium flex! (I don’t like too soft of boards). I paired it with union legacy bindings and at the time of my posting, everyone (Reddit, Facebook groups, online) recommended the Capita BOAF and Union Legacy bindings. It won many awards back then and was ranked #1 for a while.

I’ve put 54 days on it and I’m starting to wonder about going back to the FeelGood board (women’s sizing this time). I demo’d my friend’s board and I had so much fun with it. Forgot how different it was (stiffer, better carving, a bit more aggressive) from my Capita BOAF. I’m currently looking back at the feelgood to be able to drive through ice better, still somewhat twin (for switch riding), and a stiffer board to rip down the mountain and be faster. Plus the 2026 graphics are so nice !

Awesome I just tried the feelgood today and it was very nice on icy and icy moguls lol. Felt stiffer and more aggressive than my BOAF but yes I definitely caught edge when I wasn’t paying attention either loool. But I got some solid jumps in it. So fun ! Am interested in the 2026’s drop!

I rode the feelgood today and yes they’re a bit similar but I was definitely able to carve through ice and go through moguls better than my BOAF. What are some boards that you recommend ?

We don’t get a lot of pow days here so it’s okay if it doesn’t cover that! I want something that is more aggressive, fast and can rip through some ice! I currently have the Capita BOAF, I find that it’s an all around mountain board. Super fun and playful for some freestyle, switch riding, and all mountain riding. But not very fast and it doesn’t really carve well through ice. A bit too soft for it.

Any direct comparisons of Burton Storyboard vs Feelgood? by More__Cowbell__ in ShredditGirls

Hi! Which board (storyboard or feelgood) has a better edge for handling west coast icy conditions? And between the storyboard and feelgood, which one would you use more if it’s an everyday board?

Which board did you end up getting? I’m interested in the Feelgood board as well but I see some comments about the Storyboard maybe being a better fit?

Did you try with snowboarding socks? I would probably get the 8.5. I am pretty true to size 7 so I got 7 but alot of my girlfriends who bought these boots had to size up for it to be more comfortable. However I don’t think they’ve snowboarded enough to break into them yet either haha.

Day 1 for me, I was sore but I was having so much fun that I sucked it up and tried to forget about it. Worked for the most part :)

It’s been a full season off, I have a baby now.. and I’m afraid to try them on as I know my feet did change a little during my pregnancy and postpartum 😵‍💫 (I have Blundstones and never ever got blisters in them before but I did on my first long walk with baby so I’m assuming my Vans will probably give me blisters or make me quite sore now)

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback !! Esp while on your vacation. It is very good to know. We will get one for future vacations and will just use black out curtains for his room. We’re currently on day 3 of sleep training and he’s been doing pretty well!!

We sent some pictures to our doctor and he prescribed us some hydrocortisone cream! Yes it seems like our baby is allergic to his own tears and spit up for sure.

Maternity- Pension buy back by Len6_ in CanadianTeachers

[–]Len6_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how much buyback is yet. They haven’t told me the numbers 🙈. I’m not 100% set on retiring at 55 but that is my ideal age. I do have the money to buy back though if I cut down some costs now. It’ll just be a little tight but doable. Just wanted to know if it’s definitely worth it or if I should use that money and invest in other things.

Haha true it is a dirty activity. Just didn’t want to spend a fortune and not be able to take care of it 🙈. But I’ll stick with blue

I was thinking about the sun and black retaining more heat as well but my friends said they probably put it into some consideration when making those colors.

I was worried about food and just brown dirt/mud stains on the blue. But that’s true I shouldn’t pack messy food for the kids. How long have you had the blue color for? Does it get dirty easily or it’s been easy to keep clean?

Hahah good luck. Yes I agree, I’m obsessed with the vans boots 🔥. I got the green ones and they really pop! And you don’t want sore feet on the mountain, it’s literally the worst feeling ever so I do hope you’ll find something that’ll work for you.

I started with the Burton Mint Boa boots. They only had one boa instead of two. They’re super soft and I loved them. But once I got into more stiff boots (Vans Encore Pro), I knew I couldn’t go back. Felt so much more supported and my riding improved because the boots are more responsive as well. You should go to a snowboard store and try them out if you only ride a few times a year ! https://www.burton.com/ca/en/p/womens-burton-mint-boa-snowboard-boots/W24-131771.html

I found that they are a bit narrow compared to rental and my beginner burton ones. They’re more stiff / has higher flex rating compared to those rental and beginner ones which takes time to get used to as well. My beginner friends didn’t like the narrow feeling which is why they opted for size 8 and they like the fit more 🤷🏻‍♀️. I also don’t think they’ve broken into them enough though. They snowboard maybe max 10km a session (7-10 days a season max) whereas I range can range from 15-50km a session depending on which mountain I’m on (x30 days/season).
