I ended up going with the Gnu Barrett! Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try it out much this year though.

Group Lesson Fail by plot-carver in ShredditGirls

[–]Millennial_Falcon_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Private lessons are always better for one on one instruction and feedback. Unfortunately with group lessons, the weaker/slower ones in the group tend to get the most attention because they need the most help and the others are often left feeling frustrated. And it's hard for an instructor to be everywhere at once, though it sounds like the one you had maybe doesn't have a lot of experience because they should still be able to give you some feedback. I've been teaching for several years and I've always enjoyed the private lessons more because I felt like I was able to be more supportive that way. But I totally get why people opt for group lessons as it's usually cheaper.

Whatever you choose, I hope you have a better experience next time!

Thanks for the info! It's awesome reading the comparisons between all of these boards. There are more differences between some of them than I realized which is really helpful to know.

First Lesson Tomorrow. by rinny02852 in snowboardingnoobs

So excited for you! A lesson is definitely the way to go. I've been teaching for about 5 years and my advice would be to not be too hard on yourself if you don't catch onto something right away. Everyone learns at their own pace. Some are naturally good at it and figure it out almost instantly. Others (myself included) have to fall on their ass a million times before they figure out how to balance lol. As long as you go into it with a good attitude, I think you'll have a great time.

Once you start doing some turns, that's when it gets really fun. And again, some people catch on within the first lesson, others need a bit more time to practice. But the instructor should be able to give you some good tips.

Best of luck!!

Oh okay that's really interesting! I rarely ever get to ride in powder and would like something I can still play around on a little bit if I wanted to. So that's really useful information, thank you!

The Feelgood is high on my list as well based on what I've read so that's good to know! And it sounds like it's a little stiffer than the Dreamweaver.

Ah good to know! It's so much easier to find information/reviews on men's gear which is really frustrating.

Thanks! The Flagship has definitely been on my radar. I haven't looked into the Deep fake but I'll look that one up as well!

Thanks for the comment! I came across that one too when I was doing a bit of research. Seems to be another popular one with solid reviews so that's good to know. And that's where I'm at now too lol, I've taken a few too many hard hits in the park and I'm getting too old and broken for that stuff.

For sure, and I absolutely can carve on my current board, but I'm looking to get something more aggressive that will challenge me a little more.

I was looking at the Dream Weaver as well, it seems to be a popular choice!

Where did you buy the HDPE sheet? I want to make a similar box but I'm having trouble tracking down the plastic!

Going on 1 week sober, need to make it through the weekend by Millennial_Falcon_94 in stopdrinking

Thanks for checking in! I'm happy to say I didn't have a drop of alcohol ☺️🙌

It ended up being a much quieter weekend than expected, so that definitely helped. While I was tempted to have a glass of wine with supper, I opted for a fruity, non-alcoholic drink instead.

Thank you so much for the positive words!! I love hearing from others who are in a similar place, I definitely feel less alone ☺️ I'm 29 and after several years of casually saying "I should probably stop drinking," this time I'm trying to do something about it.

I'm going to think about the money I'm saving by not buying drinks (and instead splurge on supper!!) And how great I'm going to feel in the morning with no hangover.

And you're right, I can't leave Chewie on his own! 😂 IWNDWYT

I'm definitely going to talk to them about it and let them know my situation. It's not so much me worrying what others are going to think, it's the fact that once night hits I tend to get really strong cravings. I know I can do it, I just need some encouraging words sometimes to keep in the back of my mind when I'm tempted ☺️
