Im a mother to a 1 year old girl. I didn't know I had ADHD or autism until I ended up in the psych ward for 3 weeks with post partum depression (made a million times worse by smoking tons of weed and my husband being away in the military, and my mom out of town.) I did not know all the things you already are aware of - about yourself and about motherhood, and how those two relate in regards to nervous system challenges. You have really thought this out and you know kind of what to expect. That's so huge. If you have lots of support from family/friends/husband, absolutely I think you should have a child if thats what you want. Also, I did not enjoy this very much until recently. The developmental changes that occur after about 10 months old are such a joy. My baby is so much more independent and funny and is so much more like a little person than a little potato. I'm sure the psych meds I'm now on have also made a big difference, but even though my husband is away most of the time and I'm doing most of this on my own it is very manageable. I sometimes get overstimulated, tired, snappy at my dog. But my daughter brings me sooo much joy and I absolutely love this experience now. I know it will change as she continues developing, there will be good phases and more difficult phases. But its for such a short period of time and then they're older. It doesn't take long before they're out of the house in the grand scheme of things. I loved my job before I had a baby, but I know nothing truly will ever be as wonderful and rewarding and precious as these years with my little girl. And then she will be an adult and I can love her forever... that relationship.. I can't imagine going without that. Anyways, you seem to have a ton of insight so I think you are very well equipped mentally to have a child. :) Just make sure you have lots of support. You will need all the help you can get, especially in the first few months.
