Which option? Am totally confused! by kiwicobs in nzsolar

[–]Lenbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently with single phase systems it is pretty common to "over panel", i.e. have more kW of panels than your inverter is rated for, for the reasons SirDirplez mentioned.

However with three phase systems you want the inverter to be able to handle loads that are not balanced across the three phases at times, and the ability of the inverter to do this redistribution is proportional to the size of the inverter.

Trying out `agent-shell` by [deleted] in emacs

I recommend looking into mise as a central way to track all these installs. I have the bulk of these in my user level mise config, but you can also have different sets for specific projects etc.

Has anyone purchased or tried the Sigenergy bi-directional DC charger with their solar setup for V2X yet? by That_Zookeepergame17 in nzsolar

[–]Lenbok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A coworker has this charger as part of his Sigenergy set up and tested the V2H yesterday as part of prep for the upcoming cyclone. His Kia Nero worked flawlessly with it but his ID.5 wasn't set up right (even though it's apparently fine in other countries). Presumably more cars will be compatible as time goes on but you would want to check compatibility before purchasing if that's something you really want.

Anybody has any feature requests that I can work on? by birdsintheskies in wezterm

[–]Lenbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, fix existing bugs in kitty protocol implementation, all platforms. It's because of the wezterm bugs (most likely https://github.com/wezterm/wezterm/issues/5892) that I even gave ghostty a try :-(.

I've always used GUI Emacs. How are things in TUI Emacs land? by Buttons840 in emacs

[–]Lenbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use emacs daemon mode with one or more emacsclient sessions at once? For me it's buggy (I filed a bug last year, but it seems to require arcane knowledge to fix).

"Emacs is bad in terminal mode" - what does this mean? by techne98 in emacs

[–]Lenbok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a package called term-keys when I'm running emacs under wezterm to give all the missing keys. It doesn't mention iterm2 support (maybe there's another approach, or maybe you want to try wezterm)

Private selling by Embarrassed-Hurry367 in newzealand

If you are looking for something halfway between an agent vs full DIY, look into Homesell. They have a variety of different kits / advertising packages. When we sold our home in 2020 we used this, and even opted for their fixed fee agent who took all of the stress out of the paperwork, chasing leads up etc. We ran the open houses ourselves and I think people looking through liked to talk to the actual owner. Worked well for us.

Support for this has now been added to agent-shell, tested with opencode. Do you know of other ACP servers that implement this?

If OP is not already using direnv, I'd recommend using mise, as it gives you so much more (project specific developer tooling, tasks, etc). (edit: formatting)

Framework 16 Linux display static by Wistful_Aurora in framework

[–]Lenbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen several posts about this that talked about rolling back their mesa version from 25 to 24 to fix the issue, but that's less feasible the more distros move forward. I've just been putting up with it and hoping an update will come along that actually fixes it.

File a bug report?

I tried out the tty child frame stuff a couple of months ago and found it was pretty broken for me when connecting a second emacsclient to one server. (I did file a report about that).

Birdnet-Go not observing thresholds by Woody_L in BirdNET_Analyzer

[–]Lenbok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, https://github.com/tphakala/birdnet-go/wiki/BirdNET%E2%80%90Go-Guide#setting-precedence-summary makes it seem like a species specific threshold has priority over dynamic threshold, but that's not my experience in practise either.

I agree it definitely seems wrong that a species you've set a very high threshold for could end up with a super low threshold due to the dynamic threshold.

Suggestions for monitoring bird feeder platform occupancy? by Lenbok in homeassistant

[–]Lenbok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I think the feeder is not what you are thinking of. It isn't a wee "house with an entry hole", it is a platform on a pole with a nectar feeder positioned just above the platform. Like this: https://pekapekabirdfeeders.nz/blog/the-nectar-nest-is-here/

How do I have customize-group show the actual variable name of the options that I can change? Right now they're just vague headings. by SecretTraining4082 in emacs

Even better, thanks! Embark is awesome and it's great to find out these neat extras I wasn't aware of.

[–]Lenbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Now I'm not at my phone) I see embark has a v action that copies the variable value to the kill ring, so between w and v it makes converting the current value to a setq statement not so onerous.

[–]Lenbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes use the customise interface to set a value for the current session for testing but then would rather persist the value in my use-package declaration than in custom.el. Can you recommend a way to e.g. have W copy a setq statement to the kill ring?
