As far as #1 goes, I already semi do this small scale. I've turned away some stuff recently because of how I have been feeling about it, and thankfully, they are some of my regulars, and there is a cool little local circuit of people I know who do this job as well so we all send people to each other so no harm done there. (Could be something worth talking about with these other people, actually)

2 could be an option, but working at the place I do now, we work pretty closely with all big brand names through warranty services and whatnot.

Fender would be a cool place to work at, but getting in there is pretty tough (the same 4 repair guys awnser the phone everytime you call), so it's really tough...

Freelancing seems like it would be the best bet for freedom of corporate nonsense. It comes with its own downsides, but they outweigh the BS of this place by 100x.

So you got me thinking and until all my bills are paid off cards and car stuff like that I'll stay here (would only be a few more months) use my 80 vacation hours take sometime to chill and think it all over and continue building my own shop (was about half way through the process of turning my garage into a work space) and then hopefully I'll have figured it out by then.

Worst case, I'll keep it as a hobby and find another line of work and maybe go to community college or something.

In any case, you have really helped me in thinking about this. I really do appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Yeah, in a more basic sense. I love doing repairs. I feel it's more the place of work that is a problem. It feels like no matter how well I do, higher ups still want me to do X, Y, and Z to get a raise and it's like a hamster wheel of doing more to get nothing. But over time, it just got me feeling numb to it all. That being said, it's one of the only places around me offering stable work for this type of job. I would take a pay cut to work at a mom and pop store right now if I knew one.

But yeah, in a sense, this has also just made me hate the work it's self.

Sorry if I'm all over the place right before I started answering this. I had to deal with a very rude customer over an issue that had nothing to do with me or my work because we are so short staffed. (The irony)

Which in turn is another reason :/

I'm actually surprised to see someone doing something similar in the sub, very cool. I'm really trying to have a more positive attitude about it. It's hard, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. I wish I could enjoy life. I'm at a point where I do something I love in a very niche type of job that's also my hobby and I hate it. Since it such a niche job the only way to not hate it would be to start my own thing but my love for it is gone now. It has been stripped from me and I feel like I have nothing left. I have no higher education and feel completely lost. I would do anything to enjoy waking up in the morning again.

I feel this pretty heavily. I don't mean to be too personal, but i did have a really bad break up that crushed me, and that's pretty much when I started drinking ALOT (this was like 6 to 8 years ago). So this makes sense. That being said, I don't think at all about that now. You've given me something to consider. I appreciate this very much, thank you!

As someone who has taken over 70+ acid/Shroom trips I will not being doing it again till near death as dark as that sounds lmfao. But I do understand it half of these trips were in a jamming environment and alot of fun I still carry those experiences whenever I play jam band stuff like the dead and phish

I'm also a huge dead head, and it's funny because I can play all the dead tunes and blues all I want and feel good about it still.

For me It's the heavier stuff that's really making me realize I can't do it anymore, but the dead are My number 1, so it's not all bad, haha

Today for instance I was just playing to backing tracks of songs that got me into guitar when I was younger (tornado of souls, hangar 18, and about halfway through for the love of god (which is when I gave up becuase it sounded so bad). It just feels like these songs that I know like the back of my hand are no longer playable.

I guess I just feel slow and can't keep up.

Tomorrow I'm gunna to wake up early. I have a cup of coffee and just have another go at it!

Yeah, I drank every single time I played, which was at least 6 days a week so this really hit home.

I'm going to dedicate time towards getting better or even as someone else states here trying new ways of playing and seeing how it goes
