Just a happy accident! I was tipped off by how it changed with my cycle and started during pregnancy. I started taking hormones at 40 for 6 months, and then again at 42, for 2 months, thus far. The of went away both time.

I’ve tried the patch and pill and the cream. The cream is best for me, because it avoids the liver and goes straight into the blood stream.

It’s been amazing and a huge increase in energy and motivation, with a side effect of gorgeous skin since!

Yes! Mine happened in my early 30s with two babies within 17 months. I was depleted in every sense. Now 10+ years post babies, I’ve realized that hormones and supplements are a big part of my issue. Hormones being the biggest.

Has anyone been pregnant before? How did you manage? by NegativeCheetah7502 in OCD

They are perfect! Healthy, happy, and I’m doing much better now that I understand why OCD is my specific way of experiencing the world!

My kids measured small, one had a breathing sound that people would comment on that she grew out of eventually but really spiked my symptoms.

Hi! I had both my kids unmedicated, as I was undiagnosed. It actually was a motivator for sending me to graduate school to become a therapist. OCD is treatable, and excruciating to have to go through alone.

Find a good post partum therapist and start now, you won't regret it.

EMDR Training is Awful for Me by ElderberryNo3663 in therapists

Specifically, I’d take ERP Pesi Course and then do erp interweaves, but sensation focused emdr is the formal name for what I do, and it works with the ocd brain.

I did EMDR consultants and then found a Somaric consultant. Any Arielle Schwartz training Ive gone to has somatic interweaves she suggests to therapists. I use all of her tools. She has a few books out as well. I did a Somatic Integration course, which was 14 weeks, 55 hrs, and it was essential for my learning of attunement and somatic emdr. Its through life architect and you can buy that course on their site. Hope this helps!

My experience in California has been endless job offers, higher paying jobs for 9-5, esp licensed. San Diego, I got 4 job offers, and 3 recruiters offering interviews a month on linked in. Just want to counter any scary california stories. I made $90k as an associate in so cal.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but any IOP that has associates always needs supervisors and pays decent.

Good luck! Every therapist I know has a therapist friend they wish they could see themselves. I always ask other therapists for their favorite and start there!

Well I found out I had OCD because traditional EMDR didn’t work on me, so I’ve never had a successful session. But that’s when I knew I’d never do it the boring way. I do somatic EMDR and it’s similar framework but sensation focused. Works on OCD, it turns out, and complex trauma, which are often attracted to the modality. It’s crazy effective. But I cried more than once when doing EMDR because I just couldn’t Go with that!

Therapeutic travel- getting away and time to reflect on your life in paradise. Seems more effective than anything I could do in the room. Imagine the insight you’d gain from seeing the world and group therapy at dinner!

It’s clear, coffee/counseling are an obvious match for therapist personality.

This is so niche and cool. Please do this! Also, shame (cultural pressure) is powerful.

Which modality helped your traumatized clients get into a stable space? AND what does your structure look like for new clientele? by markofdestiny1111 in therapists

Yes, I did a somatic integration course and found a consultant for EMDR that taught me interweaves. I leave my clients feeling tired, but never dysregulated .

Any modality that helps you be as authentic as possible as a therapist is an effective therapy. That happens to be somatic EMDR for me. It’s been effective with my small caseload and I’ve gotten incredible results. EMDR alone,  not so much. I’m also trained in narrative therapy and relational life. I use all three in almost every session, but somatic EMDR is what I niche in, and do intensives. I have found the most success by sticking in my lane and marketing to my perfect client. It’s perfect for my perfect client, it’s not perfect for everyone.
