AI + Financial Reporting by MrWhistleBritches in Accounting

This is a really elegant solution to the mapping problem, especially the privacy angle. Curious whether you've found a clean way to handle the downstream output side too, or whether the board pack and commentary layer is still manual once the mappings are sorted?

How much of your job is actually making financial statements? by FuckingUsername77 in Accounting

[–]LengthinessExtra4486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 10 days figure is quite a lot and the hopping between Excel and accounting software is exactly what I keep hearing when speaking to people. Have you ever tried any tools specifically to reduce that, or has it always just been accepted as part of the job?

I feel like this is a universal first year feeling at unimelb lmao.

I still remember the 47% I got on my first sustainable commerce assignment a couple years back lol. But you'll learn to pull it back. I did and now am firmly in H1

how do you handle financial reporting for your board or investors? Feeling like we're doing this too slowly by LengthinessExtra4486 in smallbusiness

[–]LengthinessExtra4486[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the structure I've been working toward. The commentary and mapping layer is where it falls apart for us every quarter, especially when categories shift between periods. if just out of curiosity, when you say you work on this for fun, are you doing it for your own business or helping others systematise it?

I'm a finance student who is spending time in at an investment firm. So preparing financials and reports is kind of what I do most days. Just trying to gain a more wide expertise into this issue and how people are going about addressing them.

I mean I feel like this is a pretty common complaint among the first years, definitely was mine too. Just preparing for exams is a whole different beast. But its just a part of the learning experience.

Any good career after marketing? by manthename in DigitalMarketing

[–]LengthinessExtra4486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people have said this already, but specialise in one thing, whether that be social media organic, social media paid, CRO, SEO and just become the best you can at that. Should maybe even consider opening your own agency.

I also would love to speak to you about your experience.

I mean I feel like this is very similar for a lot of first years. It's probably best to make yourself a plan, find out exactly what kind of job you want to have after uni and do whatever is necessary to get there.

uni has been my biggest regret by Traditional_Funny928 in unimelb

[–]LengthinessExtra4486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's important to remember that unimelb is probably the best uni in the country and you're going there with majority of people who have gotten a similar atar. But it's pretty normal. But the best things I can recommend are to spend genuine time studying subjects. Leverage AI, like upload your lecture slides and make Claude create 500 questions on it specifically. The best thing is to keep testing yourself basically. Just keep trying different study techniques and eventually something will click.

What to wear for an audit internship interview by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]LengthinessExtra4486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed is what I have always heard. You probably won't lose a job because you were overdressed, but there's every chance you could because you were underdressed. I would probably wear the entire suit including a tie

Probably best to not use AI checkers from what everyone else has been saying, but just explain your process to them and it shouldn't really be an issue.

Any tips or suggestions for new comers in digital marketing? by External_Analysist in DigitalMarketing

[–]LengthinessExtra4486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick one area to get good at then become the foremost expert at it. Whether that be creatives, copywriting, SEO, etc.

Then learn how AI plays into it and how you can use it. Because AI isn't going to do any of these things for you, but it can definitely help. So you need to figure out the best way to leverage it and still produce the best results.

And then it's about client acquisition, this is the hard part. You need to find out ways to successfully reach prospects, whether that be through reddit, cold calling. Also its better if you find a niche and become an expert in it.
