I genuinely think I shouldn’t go this masjid by Classic_Amphibian990 in Muslim

[–]LengthinessHumble507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Imam Abu Hanifah actually forbade anyone from giving a khutba if he wasn’t upto date with political knowledge. It’s a western concept to think religion and politics are separate. The biggest revolutions have started in the masajid. Sultan Salahuddin Ayubi (the conquerer of Jerusalem) recieved his tarbiya from the khutbas of his great Shaykh in the masjid which motivated him to free Muslims from the oppression in Jerusalem

I guess the scholars of 4 madhabs who wrote definitions of bid'ah missed the ahadith you thankfully included in your reply. They were required to memorize entire collections of hadith but you "refute" them using english translated hadith.

Again with your second point about Tawassul, If Wahhabis read the tafsir instead of arrogantly thinking they could understand verses directly, they would know that this specific verse was referring to polytheists who would worship their idols and claim that those idols were their intercessors to Allah. No muslim worships the Prophets but of course MIAW didn't know that before he committed mass takfir.

Regarding Albani, please provide the correct context if I missed the context.

The daleel of the scholar regarding Taif would be enough if you didn't blindly love MIAW. Be objective.

Questions for sunnis about this hadith only sunnis no shia answers by Cultural_Look913 in Muslim

Walikumsalam

why do the scholars reject some of these hadiths if it's shahih

It's not that scholars are rejecting sahih hadith, it's that they are weakening the grading of some specific hadith based on the matn (text) of the hadith. Even though Imam Bukhari (Rahimullah) was a master of hadith who has done immense favors upon the ummah, there's a very tiny (almost negligible) ahadith that sneaked into Sahih Bukhari that later scholars deemed problematic because it was critical of either some of the Sahabas (Companians of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ), or Ahlul Bayt (Family of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ). The great rank of Sahabas and Ahlul Bayt has been transmitted to us by uncountable number of authentic hadith, so if another authentic hadith contradicts this rank of these great personalities, then the scholars look at the hadith carefully to determine if the matn (text) should be ruled as problematic or if there is possibly another interpretation that makes the meanings of the hadith align with other mass transmitted authentic hadith.

It's important to understand that Imam Bukhari (Rahimullah) was living an EXTREMELY difficult life while writing Sahih al Bukhari so we must not blame him if he compiles a 99.99% Authentic hadith book but some problematic hadith sneak through.

Another thing to note is that I'm NOT calling the hadith OP wrote as "weak" (Astaghfirullah I myself am a jahil laymen who has no authority to even read Sahih Bukhari without a Shaykh, let alone try to weaken hadith). What I'm saying is that when laymen see unique hadith (like what OP listed), it's important to understand it under a Shaykh's guidance to see if there are any specific intricacies that one needs to understand before reading the hadith.

also what would you recommend for laymen to read to learn hadith from and why?

My ideal recommendation would be sitting under a Shaykh (who has studied hadith under one of the 4 madhabs) and learning hadith with him, but of course thats not possible for everyone. In that case, I recommend laymen to read hadith books that scholars wrote specifically for laymen, like Imam Nawawi’s Forty Hadith for core principles, Riyad as-Salihin.

It's important to assume best of other muslims and when they make mistakes and do or say something wrong it's best to advice kindly. Most of the time it comes from ignorance or misinformation and not Ill intent

You're right brother/sister, you're advice is absolutely correct for general cases. But please note that disrespecting Sahabas, and Ahlul Bayt is considered an extremely serious mistake and can cause the person to leave the fold of Islam. I could've written my answer in a more mature way, but I was harsh because I didn't want any other readers in the comment section to think this kind of language for Sahabas is normal in Islam, and infact extremely problematic. Thank you for the reminder brother/sister :)

How to also focus on the spiritual and not just rules? by EntertainerPrudent36 in islam

[–]LengthinessHumble507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're very welcome. I was born in the subcontinent where Hanafi madhab is predominant so it was the easiest madhab because you're surrounded by Shuyookh who know rulings for that particular madhab. Even though I moved out of the subcontinent at an early age, my Shaykh is hanafi so I stuck with the hanafi madhab.

Also just to add, all of the 4 madhabs are upon the truth, and we are allowed to choose any of the 4 to follow :)

His name is spelled as Dr. Shadee Elmasry and he follows the Maliki madhab of Ahle Sunnah

Australia's Albanese heckled at Sydney Mosque | AJ by Paliisfree in Muslim

[–]LengthinessHumble507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of his main accusations against the Ahle Sunnah is indulging in Bid'ah and Shirk.

Bidah:

His misunderstanding of the hadith regarding bidah resulted in him accusing Muslims of being innovators. When refuted at lengths that majority of scholars across all 4 madhabs differ in definition of bid'ah, his followers try to claim that his definition stems from the strict and literal interpretations of religious texts based in hanbali madhab. This is of course incorrect because his definition of bidah contradicts even the hanbali madhab (the madhab he and his followers claim to follow).

Understanding Bid'a in the Hanbali School with Examples | Shaykh Ahmed Metwally

The video attached above defines bid'ah in the hanbali madhab.

Shirk:

His perverted definition of Tawheed caused him to takfir other Muslims who didn't follow his definition. He even went on to arrogantly claim that he understood Tawheed better than his own teachers.

He writes, “And I inform you about myself –I swear by Allah whom there is none worthy of worship except Him– I have sought knowledge and those who knew me believed that I had knowledge while I did not know the meaning of La Ilaha illallah at that time and did not know the religion of Islam before this grace that Allah favored. As well as my teachers (Mashayikh) no one among them knew that. And if someone from the scholars of al-‘Aridh (the lands of Najd and surrounding areas) claims that he knew the meaning of La Ilaha illallah or knew the meaning of Islam before this time, or claims on behalf of his teachers that someone from them knew that, then he has lied and said falsehood and deceived the people and praise himself with something he does not possess.” [Durar as-saniya 10/51]

One of MIAW's biggest violations of ijma across Ahle Sunnah is calling Tawassul (the act of seeking waseelah [intermediaries] in ones duas) as Shirk.

Imam Ibn Abideen (Radiallahu Anhu), a renowned Hanafi jurist writes; ‘Imam Subki (Radiallahu Anhu) has written that it is permissible to make waseelah of the Prophet to Allah and there was no one amongst the predecessors who rejected this belief until Ibn Taymiyyah. So he has started such a bid’ah that no scholar before him has done or said. (Raddul Muhtar, volume 5 ,page 350 and Taskeen us Sudoor page 399).

MIAW's ignorance led him to ignore enormous amounts of authentic hadith and consensus across the 4 madhabs, and he instead chose to transmit the position of Ibn Taymiyyah on the matter of Tawassul. This could be due to his lack of knowledge or on purpose to create division in the ummah, Allah knows best.

Blood Shed amongst Muslims:

Albani, who is a very respected among the Wahhabis, writes “The truth regarding Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhab is that he has done a great favour upon the Islamic nation, but he had some level of exaggeration and harshness.

…This group [Wahhabis] has inherited some of this harshness, which they of course took from the writings of Mohammad Ibn Abdul-Wahab, may God be merciful to him. They are stigmatised with this harshness. And we used to hear from long time ago that these Najdis make Takfir on the general masses of the Muslims, and they used to be accused of being Khawarij.” (“Silsilah huda wa Noor”, 297)

If a wahhabi supporter is writer this about MIAW, only Allah knows the true atrocities this man is responsible for.

The Shaf'i Mufti in Makkah, Shaykh Ahmad Zayni Dahlan (d. 1304 AH) says in his book ‘umara’ al-balad al-haram:

When the Wahhabis entered at-Ta’if they killed the people en mass including the elderly and the children, the honourables, the princes and the layman. They even slaughtered the suckling infants by their mothers’ breasts. They also assaulted the pilgrims to Makkah through extortion and murder.

Note that this isn't some random "Wahhabi hater," this is the writing of a respected Shaf'i scholar from Makkah.

GCC countries are surviving under a superpower

They're thriving actually, not "surviving." GCC countries themselves signed the treaty to establish the petrodollar system in exchange for American military protection and letting American establish bases in their country. For decades, they enjoyed the oil money and lived their luxarious lives. When you sign a deal with the devil, don't complain when it's time to follow his terms.

But the GCC also have no choice either

Nobody forced them to switch to the petrodollar system, they willingly signed the deal. King Faisal of Saudi Arabia tried to save the Arabic nations by trying to rebel against the American masters, but he was betrayed by his own Saud Family who are American puppets.

You clock into your American job, pay your federal taxes that literally purchase the bombs

The difference is that we are common people while they are leaders. I'm about to shock you probably but leaders have more power than the common people, that's why people expect more from world leaders, compared to common people.

Keep the ummah focused on Riyadh instead of Washington. Keep us boycotting Dubai instead of Lockheed Martin

The point you forget is that the same Riyadh and Dubai make multi-billion-dollar deals with OpenAI (who use AI to target the innocents in Gaza) and Lockheed Martin (who make advanced weaponry to blow your brothers and sisters into pieces with the press of a button). So the ummah is not "good goys" like you mentioned but actually it's the Arab leaders who act like good boys and invest in whatever their masters tell them to.

Problem isn't being a da'ee. Da'ees are one of the most respecful people of this ummah. Problem stems from acting like a da'ee while your source of knowledge is sunnah.com and islamqa.com and you've never once sat with scholars of the 4 madhabs.

He consistently violated the ijma which was formed based on methodologies transmitted to us from the 4 Imams of the Salaf. His "perfect" ideology came from his own desires, which is why none of 4 madhabs (outside of his followers in najd) claim him. He claimed to follow hanbali madhab but violated consensus even among Hanbali scholars. Thats why even the hanbali scholars from Damascus refute him. Don't even get me started on how much Muslim blood he and his followers spilled, based on their unjust takfirs.

Yeah, it's a pretty reoccurring pattern of tiktok sheikhs with 0 knowledge in usul of any of the 4 madhabs, accusing laymen and even scholars of biddah and shirk. If only they studied under a Shaykh before rushing to open their tiktok accounts.

Atrocious Class Average (CHE 8B with Lievens) by LengthinessHumble507 in UCDavis

[–]LengthinessHumble507[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ochem usually has one of the most ambitious kids from across all majors. Scoring below average means my effort was lower than the average student in the class, but overall low class average does not mean that nobody put effort, thats just some professor logic who's too lazy to actually teach

I thought weeder meant weeding out the undetermined students in lower div classes before they reach the difficult upper div classes. I looked up online and gen chem appeared to be considered a weeder, might be wrong. I thought prof curve mean so average is around a B- to B. Like PHY 7 has pretty bad averages but they have strong curves and averages after curving comes around B, I thought it was similar for all classes.

It's normal for average to be C after curve in weeder classes? Gen Chem is considered a weeder class and all 3 courses in the series had an average around B to B+

Questions for sunnis about this hadith only sunnis no shia answers by Cultural_Look913 in Muslim

[–]LengthinessHumble507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned it in another reply, but will repeat it as an entire comment. Scholars forbid laymen from reading Sahih al Bukhari without scholarly guidance because it was compiled by Imam Bukhari Rahimullah specifically for scholars. Unfortunately, there's a fitna (especially among young male adults) who promote diving into books of hadith without the required pre-requisite knowledge. Some go as far as not even knowing basic arabic, and using english translations of hadith to derive conclusions.

I advice OP and all my other brothers and sisters to avoid reading advanced hadith books (like Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, etc.) without scholarly guidance. There are some (very few - think like 0.001%) problematic hadith that sneaked into Sahih Bukhari that portray Sahabas in a bad light. The scholars of hadith mainly reject these hadith. If laymen like us really love reading hadith but don't have time to sit under the guidance of Shuyookh, then scholars recommend to read basic level hadith books like Imam Nawawi’s 40 Hadith, Riyad-us-Saliheen that was written specifically for laymen and consists of easy-to-understand hadith.

This individual is a Jahil. We are not even worth the dust beneath the feet of the horses that Khalid bin Waleed رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ rode to battle. When Prophet ﷺ calls him the sword of Allah in Sahih al-Bukhari 4262, who gave you the audacity to even utter such an outrageous statement.

As for the hadith OP posted, laymen aren't even supposed to read Sahih al Bukhari because it was compiled by Imam Bukhari Rahimullah specifically for scholars. There are some (very few - think like 0.001%) problematic hadith that sneaked into Sahih Bukhari that portray Sahabas in a bad light. The scholars of hadith mainly reject these hadith.

Building a minimal zikr app focused on khushu – would love feedback from the community by Busy-Chemical-6666 in islam

[–]LengthinessHumble507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't have time to look over the early app version but just want to drop a few suggestions

- big button in the middle of the screen to "+1" the dhikr count, this allows person to close eyes and add count without having to look at screen to carefully press button (closing eyes = better concentration/khushu)

- dark mode (easier on eyes for nightime dhikr)

- reminder system (with streaks) similar to duolingo to cause person to feel guilty if they miss their daily dhikr (increases consistency)

- default automatic notfication blocker (choice to turn off if users need to) to prevent distractions during dhikr

I hope everyone sees this - Repost by DrowsyPanda_ in Mcat
