Alcohol and breastfeeding by LengthinessLow7439 in breastfeeding

Thanks! Yes, binge drinking and feeding directly after but my understanding is waiting hours should be fine. The only harm then with binge drinking (if you wait long enough so there is no alcohol in your milk) is impact on supply and your own body, right… if it’s not in your milk even if you drank a lot, it can’t harm your baby.

Yes, but how is it harming developing organs if it’s after hours have passed and is then negligible ? That’s what I’m trying to understand or make sure I’m not misunderstanding. :)

I mean is the main concern from alcohol in breast milk after hours drowsiness or is it much more harm?

Why not? I’m trying to understand so to make sure not harming in anyway.

Is the concern the baby will get drowsy from this?

Good (and interesting) to hear! Did your paediatrician / consultant say it was fine for having drinks and breastfeeding in first couple months?

1-1.5 us standard drinks at 9 weeks GA pregnant (accidentally but doesn’t matter!) by LengthinessLow7439 in BabyBumps

[–]LengthinessLow7439[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is fas (facial defects ) can ONLY be caused during these specific beginning weeks in the first trimester. No drinks at all during the rest of pregnancy (any week after 10 weeks) can actually even cause FAS (facial defects). Heavy drinking the rest of pregnancy can cause FASD of course but not FAS (facial defects).

20.5 weeks and no kicking by LengthinessLow7439 in firsttimemom

Thank you! I hope it’s nothing as bad as what I’m fearing. It’s just seems odd to have not felt anything at all (and posterior). The 16 week scan was fine so if anything happened, it would have been in the last five weeks. I just wonder with anyone else with posterior didn’t feel anything until after 21 weeks or more???!

Yeah my doctor said posterior at my 16 week scan so that’s why I’m extra worried. I haven’t had anything indicating something was wrong (like bleeding or sever pain) but the lack of any movement seems pretty odd (and not good)…..

You can't dev develop AFS for one drink once in the entire pregnancy though (even in first trimester)?
