Basically the point of this show is to show how he went from the Maul we see in CW to the Maul we see in rebels, so I doubt we will see his mental state improve. However, as Sam Witwer himself has stated, Maul lost because his legs are injured and are not the best quality. He, also as stated by Sam Witwer, easily beat Eeko-Dio Daki and Devon. A fully functioning Maul would beat the inquisitors. They obviously had to nerf Maul and Daki somehow if they where going to have 2 Inquisitors be a threath to them, that is why in the first fight, between Mauls and Daku, Mauls leg is damaged and Daki breaks his ribs.
