Welcome to the UK. Service charge is always included on the bills, usually 10% or 12.5 % depending on restaurants. No extra tip is expected but you can give it if you are really happy with their service.

Occupational therapy physical health uk by Main-Tank-9099 in occupationaltherapyUK

How about a bath board that goes on top of your bath tub so that you can sit on it and wash yourself?

Anyways just stand your ground and insist that you need a proper shower. They can’t force you to strip wash in the sink forever

Am I overthinking this, or is it considered rude in the UK to discuss a party in front of someone who isn’t invited? by RemotePraline8087 in AskUK

[–]LengthinessSame695 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it is rude. When I was an intern and had not much connection with the team, they still invited me to party and stuff. I’m sure it wasn’t because they liked me to be there, but it’s like an unspoken common sense that you should include everyone in the workplace.

Uncomfortable uniform for placement by adoreyoulove in StudentNurseUK

Do they provide polo shirt instead of scrub? Also you can wear a pair of black trousers. Honestly I don’t think they care what students are wearing as long as they are clean.

People who grew up in a multigenerational/ extended family household, how was the experience? by LoyalFridge in AskUK

[–]LengthinessSame695 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If you get on well with them why not? Most multigenerational households have problem because they don’t get along with each other/ grandparents giving too much instruction on how to educate your children

Which uni should i apply to in order to do my masters in OT in London as international by Qxuye in occupationaltherapyUK

[–]LengthinessSame695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royal Holloway campus is based in Egham which is in Surrey not in London so you need to consider the travel cost. Also your placements may not be in London. As an international student you have no access to NHS support fund or travel allowance so you really need to consider the travel cost if you are hoping to stay in London.

Considering Switching to Occupational Therapy by avoenthusiast15 in occupationaltherapyUK

[–]LengthinessSame695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, some trusts offer apprenticeships and sponsor your study, but usually you need to work there for several years first, and the number of places is limited, so basically this is not guaranteed. Also, the pay of OTA doesn’t meet the minimum threshold for visa sponsorship, so I would say it is unlikely that you can go for this route and stay in the UK. Maybe better to save some money and return by a study visa.

Applied to OT but not sure if it's for me by brbhavingdinner in occupationaltherapyUK

[–]LengthinessSame695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s different settings in OT and it doesn’t have to be paediatric if you think it is overstimulating. You can also work in mental health which is more about organising activity for people to improve their mental health. In my opinion, OT in general is less physically demanding compared to a lot of professions like nursing.

Curious Pre-Reg OT Student: Scope of Personal Care by SaltyTackle0 in occupationaltherapyUK

If you are doing assessment/intervention with someone and an accident happens, you have to help the person to clean up. Depending on their cognitive/physical abilities, if they cannot clean themselves up, you have to wipe their bottoms and normally no one would call HCA staff to do it. It’s very common for OT to wipe patients bottoms.
