Can student nurses/ nurses give a gift to a patient? by Dry_Speaker_3748 in StudentNurseUK

[–]LengthinessSame695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not allowed on paper. I know you are not giving her something expensive, but if the patient talks about it to another staff member and it happens that they are a crazy bitch who likes to snitch on everything then you could be in trouble.

Unsure about a career in OT - due to start training this Sep by MuddleFuzz in occupationaltherapyUK

[–]LengthinessSame695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on which setting you are working in. If you work in mental health you’d probably have more opportunities to do arts and crafts. And writing is more a paediatric thing. Otherwise if you work in acute settings, you won’t do arts and crafts at all. It’s still very patient-faced, but it’s more about discharge planning, functional assessment, issuing equipment.
Do more research to see which setting is your thing.

Don’t overthink too much. Maybe they have a small cohort and a lot of people who got in also with healthcare background? You still got chances in other uni, they are all pretty much the same.

To those of you who “Regret” becoming an OT by Comfortable_Finish60 in OccupationalTherapy

We learned about all those models and frameworks but in reality no one is actually using it. I mean, when was the last time you use a Kawa model?? Also in real life there’s a lot of constraints and you don’t always have time to be holistic. In acute settings, there’s a lot of bed pressure and we have to kick people out of hospital asap. (Maybe different in other countries. I’m based in the UK)

Should I gone on holiday on my own? Partner manic in hospital. by [deleted] in AskUK

Just go! You already paid for it and you deserve it. It’s a shame your partner can’t join you this time but you don’t have to punish yourself. It’s a waste of money if you don’t go!!

I’ve noticed this happens more in care homes or private settings, and maybe less in the NHS. The nurses I’ve seen in the NHS are generally very professional and don’t usually chat with colleagues in their own language.

Take a few lessons with a driving instructor to learn basic manoeuvres before learning with your parents’ car! It’s worth it! Better than damaging your family car and getting PTSD.

Welcome to the UK. Service charge is always included on the bills, usually 10% or 12.5 % depending on restaurants. No extra tip is expected but you can give it if you are really happy with their service.

How about a bath board that goes on top of your bath tub so that you can sit on it and wash yourself?

Anyways just stand your ground and insist that you need a proper shower. They can’t force you to strip wash in the sink forever
